You renounce using the normal MLE when you elect to use cap space (which we'll obviously be doing). This gives you the room exception to use once you've used your cap space.

What happens if we do sign and trades, sending back second rounders like the lebron and bosh deals rather than signing guys outright? Is there a scenario where we can use these exceptions?

If Knicks are over cap and used early bird rights for Lance and room exception for Kooz how are they still signing Sasha and N'Dour. No cap room and no exceptions.

What type of cap space would we have to offer in order to be able to get them both?

well.. first and foremost, durant signing a 1 + 1 just means he is opting out in 2017 and resigning to a long term deal. therefore next summer is when teams need cap space to sign him. not sure if thats what you meant by saying "in 2 years"

but to answer the melo question. yes there is still a cap hold if he opts out. Knicks would have to renounce him or melo would have to sign somewhere else for that cap hold to disappear

last question - a **** ton of cap space will be needed to sign both of them haha. gonna guess $65 mil cap space minimum.

The only 3 exceptions that you can use to accept a player back in trade (including sign-and-trade from another team) are Traded Player Exception, Minimum Salary Exception, and Disabled Player Exception.

All the other exceptions, like MLE, can only be used to sign free agents. They can't be used to create cap space to accept a player back in trade, not even for a sign-and-trade from another team if you're only sending out draft picks to them.

You could do a sign-and-trade of your own guys, including going over the cap by using birds rights to sign them or something, in a double sign-and-trade to take someone back. But you can't just send out draft picks and take back a player without sending salary out to match if you're over the cap, other than the 3 exception types that are allowed to be used that way (TPE, Vet Min, Disabled Player).

There is no reason to be giving Taj Gibson that much money so early in the off-season honestly I'm not sure Perry and Mills has a plan. Certainly not a shleb like Bullock.

I wonder how Ingram's camp feel about him sharing the spot light with Zion in NO...Hmmmmmmm. Ingram should request a trade to NY. Sign and trade! LOL

I'm about to start my own rumor on twitter.. if it happens just remember I called it first.

Honestly though if I was in Ingram camp... I would explore the Marketing opportunities with a Big city team.

Is it so hard to see?

Run the offense through RJ and bench Elfrid-19.
