Abdel Nader
$1.7M TO for next season and he will be an UFA in 2021.
6'5/6'6 SF, 225 lbs with a 7'1 wingspan.
27 years old.
He has improved every year since his rookie season, I would not be suprised if he plays solid minutes as a backup wing.

Played 15 mpg for a 5th seed OKC team last year. Very interesting.

I don't think he's just a throw in filler.
He will back up Bridges... Both have elite wingspan for their height...

I was wondering if he was going to just be waived but happy he'll get a crack with us. Wonder how he feels about coming here.

Re: Abdel Nader
He wasn't needed money wise to complete this trade and OKC could have just cut him if they didn't have a spot for him so the suns must have asked for him. They must plan on him being some of the wing depth this year. Something they needed because with 100 guards on the roster last season they were actually thin at the wing.thamadkant wrote:I don't think he's just a throw in filler.

You need 11th man types especially this year where you could lose guys to covid on top of your normal injuries.

Re: Abdel Nader
Makes me think they go guard in this draft, or possibly PF. This guy doesn't have the height but has the wingspan to backup 3. So they could go guard like Lewis, Terry or Maxey, or someone better if they slip, or possibly Bane.

This dude shouldn't factor into who you pick. He's the type that's not in the rotation but gets like 10 mins a night when injuries hit.bwgood77 wrote:Makes me think they go guard in this draft, or possibly PF. Well, if we asked for him and he played 15 minutes on a team tied for 4th in a tough west, if he's young he should get better.
We have a couple of wings...I would still probably add Vassell or maybe Bey but I do think this might make it more likely we take a guard unless someone projected in top 8 or 9 slips.
Backup 1/2 are our biggest needs imo and there isn't a ton of separation I don't believe...or a clear BPA around that pick unless someone surpisingly slips.
Though maybe you like this draft better than I do.

Re: Abdel Nader
I don't think they should look at the draft as an avenue where they need someone to be in the rotation from game 1. Take the best prospect and let them earn minutes either now or a year from now. Even Cam who was older and ready wasn't really in the regular rotation right away last year.bwgood77 wrote:WeekapaugGroove wrote:This dude shouldn't factor into who you pick. I guess one way Nader changes their draft is now you don't feel like you need another wing. B

Re: Abdel Nader
Does bring a bit of depth to the roster at the 3.
Decent 3 pt shot - 36-37%
Not expensive
As week mentioned - with COVID - you might need a bit more depth this year whether to practice or even games. I am not sure it takes away wing from the draft - as personally, just get the best basketball player for the team.

Re: Abdel Nader
Like everyone else said, he’s a fine 10th-13th man on a roster. A guy you can play in case of injury or situationally. This is how I view the roster...
Paul | ??? | Payne
Booker | Carter | Okobo
Bridges | Nader
??? | Johnson
Ayton | Saric
The two biggest needs are a 3rd guard and a power forward, though I’d be cool with Cam Johnson starting. Just need another legitimate option.

CP3 will know how good he is, one way or the other and will let the coaching staff know I'm sure. Good get in the deal if he can be a solid rotation piece.

Re: Abdel Nader
I thought this guy was a throw-in as I have not heard of him before but looking into his stats a little bit and doing a bit of research, I do think he has value and he may not be an end of the bench guy. His shooting, his length and his familiarity with CP3 could get him some decent minutes.

Good guy to have around if 8 players go down with injury. He played less minutes in OKC playoff series than Diablo, Muscala, Ferguson and Bazley.

After seeing the contracts getting signed I like his inclusion in this trade even more.

Yeah, he's a fine backup 3&D wing...37.5% from 3 and 7'1 wingspan.

I think Arnold Schwarzenegger played his Uncle Termi in a prominent 80's SciFi movie
