So no on Marc Gasol?

I like the collective big IQ of Gasol/Giles pick-ups

Besides the concern that Gasol and Fizdale were a complete mismatch which begs the question of how Gasol would handle Heat culture, he's old, slow, and diminished.

Decent defender still, good three point shooter, good passer-- what's not to like? So what he's 100. if you look past the ageism he's a good pick-up for a team looking for vets

Van Vleet on our radar. If he's keen to join Miami that might be someone we could nab on the cheap by flipping Nunn, Olynyk + Filler for? He did name drop Butler as the most mentally tough player in the most recent JJ Reddick podcast.

That being said he also said he is looking to get paid. Knicks could pick him up but who knows all the numbers being equal I think he'd prefer to be here where he could run the offense and compete.

That will not happen. Fred VanVleet is not the type of player that Pat likes.

What type of player is that exactly? Feel like Van Vleet is exactly the type of guy Riley likes.

He wouldn't fit well in our defensive schemes. He has well and truly fallen off at this point the guy is 35yo and his production is decreasing every season.

Fred VanVleet is too small and the other teams will attack him because he is a defensive hole.

shoots a decent percentage from 3, one of the highest defensive ratings on Raps... Not what he use to be, but still looks like a decent low buy. I'd give him mle before boogie at least, if it comes to that

Didn't he just play 30 minutes a night in the finals that his team won just one season ago?

He'd be an upgraded version of K.Nunn for Miami, I hope Miami isn't interested in something like that, especially for the price it'll cost in money and assets, I'd rather see Miami roll with Nunn. What would be nice is if Toronto were to be talking to Miami about Lowery who has 1 year left on his contract which would allow them to keep VanVleet who is much younger then Lowery.

I'm getting excited about this offseason. Lots more shaken up than I expected.

It's officially draft night predawn ;-) and we've all heard Miami may be trading back, which is surprising to me, because I was sure the pick was gone. If we do lose the pick, I really hope we buy into the second round. I know many here believe player development is done, but I don't think so, and there are a number of players I like who will no doubt slip. I still think it's possible (even likely) that Miami is actually drafting a player for another team with the FRP, so I'm not going to get too excited until things sort themselves out. A SRP though will probably be one of our players.

One problem for the Heat to do a deal may be that KO has until 5 PM Thursday to Opt-In. If he does opt in to his $13.6M contract, he can still get MLE in the market and that's $10M, so he has some leverage. If he opts in, he will likely get traded. If he doesn't opt in he can pick a team himself and maybe not end up in WAS or SAC or CLE.

Aside from KO, the Heat really don't have much trade ballast. An S&T for DJJ or Jae Crowder or Meyers Leonard is possible. Hard to imagine Meyers Leonard getting a 3 year deal for $$$ but who knows? These players are all UFA and Miami has their Bird rights. Dragic has a market too, but an S&T will not happen because I doubt at his age he will get $$$ money for 3 years.

I would have thought there would not be that much going on, but there are few teams with cap space because everyone planned to have more, and unintuitively the constriction has led to GMs having to build their teams creatively. Without renouncing rights, Sacramento is the only one with sizeable cap space and I don't know if they do after the Bogdanovic trade. I would suspect it's been quite narrowed.

Other teams (such as the Heat) would have cap space if they renounced all their cap holds:

https://www.spotrac.com/nba/cap/

It doesn't look great for players in trying to sign as free agents in this market so an S&T would be a boost.

Just wondering how connected is this Vin Fosh guy? (could be Bish for all we know?)

his twitter bio says "Pro Sports Insider. Disseminated enough random tweets to have Broke the Anthony Davis trade; Bryce Harper signing; Joe Girardi hiring; Josh Donaldson signing; Morey news; Chris Paul trade"

with the way our rival teams are trying to load up, I'd not be opposed to it. Ibaka is a curious case but he must be expecting a decent pay day though. He's won a ring in 2019 and still relatively young.

If we don't sell the farm for Harden or Beal (And there's no indication we're even going after Beal or Harden ATM) :

The names insiders keep floating around :

Gallinari
Milsap
Wes Matthews

These are the most realistic, info-based rumors.

If we get all 3 of them + keep Nunn + keep Dragic + draft and keep #20 rook, I'd say it's a very good offseason.

Gallo is more of an upgrade then people realize. He's a 19+PPG scorer (not just a shooter) on 62+TS% the last 2 seasons.

Do you know many scorers who scored 19 points per game were more efficient then him? 6 players in the entire league, all of them superstars, max salary players.

Milsap and Wes ill help fill holes and add depth, they have the skillsets and experience.

Nunn will get better, people are writing him off for no good reason.

#20 drafted guy can have more talent then expected in this weird draft.

We'll be a considerblly better team if all theses moves, period.

Our offer would be better. Herro, Nunn, Robinson...

Houston trading James Harden means they are going into full rebuild mode.

Getting 20 year old promising talents that just balled out in a great playoff run is much better than a 30 yr old Kemba Walker who does nothing for your long term rebuild plans.

Long term, I think Nunn will be the better player out of Nunn, Herro, Robinson.

Robinson is going to get exposed next year for the raw talent that he is, as his Finals fame catches up with him and defenses lock in.

I Won't get too upset if we trade for Harden. I don't like him personally, but I get the logic behind going all in at this moment.

I do think Herro + Duncan + Nunn + multiple draft picks (probably 3) is a competitive offer. There are 2 factors working for us :

1) Harden has a "list" and we're on it. I doubt a team that isn't on it will be willing to sell the farm for him.

2) Not too many teams can offer a better package AND STILL think they're a true contender. a Rebuilding or a mediocre team won't have much use for a 31 YO old superstar if there's no one else next to him.
