this is really good news for the mets. Basically +20 million to spend and get to move McNeil back to the position he should have always been playing. Free's them up to even spend more and not be as lefty dominant in the lineup.

Yeah my first thought was who’s a good player on a $15-20M expiring contract who we might be able to trade for cheaply...I’m sure there are guys out there with so many teams presumably looking to save money.

Huge savings this year for sure, but the ability to spend more is only relative to what they're willing to spend long term. Robbie's got 2/48 left that kicks back in after this year, no?

And I was only laughing in the other thread because I've had Cano pegged as a PED user since he was starring on the Yankees (before his initial suspension), and then was astonished that the Mets took him on in the Kelenic deal. So I've got Fan Beef™ with him for about a decade now. :lol:

yeah but my guess that would be an issue for the wilpons. I don't think Cohen has any issue eating Cano's money down the road. I think Cohen was probably going to try to be somewhat reserved THIS offseason because he didn't want to freak out all the owners...but now he clears at least for one year 20 MM off the books.

The good thing is we hopefully are slowly ridding ourselves from everything of that trade.

btw y'all the person on another mets forum with legit known sources(he's broken many deals before) said this.

but as always fwiw.

I don’t know about very good chance but an option that has been floated that I heard was Odorizzi or Kluber with JT and springer.

a lot out there.

it sounds like 2 of the 3 is an ideal situation.

I'm not sure trusting either Stroman or Noah as a #2 in a big game is a thing I would be comfortable with. Odorizzi is more of a 3 or 4 type guy.

But having both JT and Springer I wouldn't pass up but I would probably prefer Bauer and Springer with a defensive catcher.

But beggers can't be choosers. Just think in any series if the mets are throwing Degrom and Bauer back to back they would be really tough to beat.
