Bye Bye Christian Wood Thread.......

Post#1 » by ByeByeDre » Thu Nov 19, 2020 3:24 am

If these moves tonight say anything, they say bye bye to Christian Wood. Chris, thanks for that monster fifteen game stretch when we didn’t have any other bigs to get stats. For your services, you’re about to get $50 million or more from some sucker organization. Congratulations!

These moves don’t signal him being gone at all.

It’s possible he is back too. If he’s not, so be it

Wood fits the mold of Weaver’s vision. This draft is no indication of him being gone. Pretty sure he’ll be top priority once FA starts. Love this draft.

I don’t believe these moves signal that.

Though I am inclined to believe he is leaving, I felt that way beforehand.

Yeah, I don't think these moves meant anything for or against Wood staying. I feel like it's all going to come down to him just making a business decision about whether he wants to be a lesser member of a good team (potentially taking less money in the process) or be the star on a bad one (potentially getting flipped in a year to a contender).

He said he wants to win. If that's the case, he's gone.

said that earlier, and now that we’re making the trade with Utah, looks like the writing is on the wall

I think I said this in another thread, but there has never really been any indication that he’s particularly attached to the Pistons, and has indicated he wants to win. He even tweeted asking for suggestions about what team he should go to. That wording doesn’t guarantee he’s gone, but the tweet suggests his mind was elsewhere.

That’s not gonna be us. That was clear before this draft.

So. Bringing in Bradley and his salary of just over $3.5 million might mean the scales are tipping towards Wood being gone. Maybe the team knows he's already out the door.

The only way Weaver spends 50+ million on somebody is in a trade with multiple picks attached. He’s not giving Wood stupid money to play with three rookies and Sekou.... think this through.....

I expect we're not signing him. We don't need to win too many games this year and next. He's about to cash in and will make a bigger difference elsewhere.

Yeah signing patton, drafting the 2 bigs, getting tony bradley, still having blake and sekou i can't see the pistons resigning c.wood.

Wood for Winslow and a lottery protected first? Who says no?

Wood for McDermott, McConnell and a first?

Wood for Kanter, a couple of Boston’s cheap scrubs and a first?

Of those, Boston is the likeliest.
Miami is possible
Doubt Indiana is interested with all of Sabonis/Turner/Bitadze in their frontcourt
