I don’t know who he is, but I hope he’s a baller.

I like his speed as a developmental 3rd string PG. He will need to improve his outside shooting, but can get to the rim. Makes me feel better about the draft.

Chicago kid. Superb speed but undersized. Definitely thought he would be drafted. Needs to be a better shooter but has a chance.

I like it. Kid is a competitor. Flaws in all, he's got his strengths.

Don't know anything about him, but he's very quick and seems to have great handles.

Signing an undrafted free agent makes you feel better about the draft after we just took a player with the 4th overall selection?

Dotson was supposed to go early in the 2nd round in many mocks.

That is some pesky defense. Reminds me of Arcidiacono with the fast hands

He has potential to be a quality backup point guard in the NBA.

This maybe the best undrafted player in the draft.

Dotson is an NBA player if his shot develops. Electric quickness, efficient finisher, good PnR player, pesky defender.

A lot of good evaluators had him late 1st, early 2nd. (I had him early-mid 2nd, mainly because he's a 1 position defender and PG's without jumpers are a big no-no for me).

He's a great flier to pick up - he could certainly develop into a backup here. If I had to think of an upside comparison right now, I'd say something like Ish Smith.

Following the end of his college career, Dotson tested out at the remote 2020 NBA Draft Combine, where he impressed in a number of areas. Dotson posted a time of 3.02 seconds in the three-quarter court sprint, per ESPN's Jonathan Givony. According to the NBA Draft expert, that mark was the fastest time at this year's combine and second-fastest time in the past decade at the event.

Dotson, per Givony, also posted the top lane agility time (10.44). His vertical leap was tested at 40 1/2 inches
.

and he would have been drafted later in the second round, but his agent pulled him out of the draft around #45 so he could go where he wanted to go. He could have a shot to stick around with his change of pace potential as mentioned. Not that Cobe is slow or anything. But that seems like his NBA niche, coming in to shake up the pace of the game. Viewing that clip video above though, he must have zero midrange, nothing was shown. Not a lot of passing highlights either. Must be a reason.

We probably got the top undrafted Free Agent here, so that’s nice, especially when I figured we’d use our second on a PG. Roster spots being scarce, I get taking the stash, to have two spots for FA. But I absolutely think Dotson finds his way to the roster this year.

If he can improve his shooting, I can see a slightly poor mans version of Collison in him.

He definitely looks fast as a young Derrick Rose but not as tall nor as a leaper. But his handles, scoring ability, and defense looks legit.

I went to Illinois State with his parents. I have been following this kid for years. He is by far the quickest/fastest player on the roster. He needs to work on shot but he can finish well. Very good on the ball defender. He will play in the NBA for years.

The Dotson vs Arci scrimmages might be more fun to watch than the actual games this year.
