Wes Iwundu Appreciation Thread

Post#1 » by SOUL » Thu Nov 19, 2020 9:39 pm

Figured he deserved one. Was here for 3 years and played solid when he was called upon.

Wish you luck, Wes! I think you'll catch on somewhere!

Happy trails to Wes! Always liked him and he always seemed like a good guy to have on the team.

But I thought we needed more wings and ball handlers.. maybe he doesn't have high IQ. I thought he would have been more productive this year than last

A little surprised they let him walk. He’s a good rotational player who will be missed.

I was surprised to see this after Ennis opted out.

Good luck, Wes.

Funny story, during summer league a few years ago he had a play that caught my eye so I told my wife to watch Iwundu. She said who? I said Iwundu. She said there are ten dudes on the court how do I know which one dude?

So he has always been that one dude in my house.

Thanks Wes.

I'm a little sad the Magic didn't keep him as an end of bench guy.

He didn't lack confidence (ie wasn't scared) to take the open shot or drive to the basket. At times he was one of the few guys who could create a shot for himself (though at times it ended up with a wild drive with no foul call while he pleaded at the ref).

He is definitely an NBA caliber player and will find a home somewhere.

Bummer. I liked him. He was a good roleplayer who did all the little things without complaint, was always ready when his number was called, was happy to take on tough defensive assignments, and his outside shot was coming in. He also seemed to have a positive impact on lineups, so it's a real shame we're losing him.

Good luck Wes Iwundu!

I liked Wes Iwundu. He played really hard, and never seemed afraid of the moment. I liked how he moved the ball, made smart cuts off ball, and played good defense. He was the anti-Fournier. He'll be missed. I wonder how the Magic expect to fill the void.

Wes worked hard and earned his time on this team.

I do hope someone else gives him a shot soon.

Wes will always have my respect for this play alone. That shove from a Magic player was long overdue.

Man... If Wes could have just finished more of those drives to the rim and hit his open threes... He's got a lot of the intangibles. Plays good D, confident, a solid glue guy for the team. I always rooted hard for Wes, but I understand not picking up his option. I wish him luck. Hopefully, he has a Harkless/Portland run in him somewhere down the line.

I actually loved this guy and wished we could've started him over Fournier or Ennis. He always made good and smart plays and was getting better every year. He may not be better than either of those players talent wise, but he always seemed to make the right play. Really will miss him if we really don't end up re-signing him.

I don't think Clark is a better keeper than Wes. Shrugs.

It’s disappointing to see him go. He defied the odds, a second round pick who stuck around 3 years and contributed well. I think there’s a place for Iwundu in the league. Was a great disrupter on defense, and made some really good plays and some timely shots. He’ll catch on with another team and find a role.
You look confused...let me fill you in.
