Wood is exactly the kind of player(young and good) this team needs to be keeping. Lock him up long term now. Letting him walk would be a mistake.

According to Keith Smart Pistons acquired Ariza at guaranteed 12.6M, and thus only have $9.6M available. If true, Wood is good as gone and means Weaver didn't want to keep him.

He gone and I think Weaver knew. Hope we can arrange a good sign and trade.

Knicks going to spend all their cash on Hayward!

Then who has money for FVV? Someone is going to get some really good players for cheap. If NYK somehow trade someone and get the money for Hayward and FVV, then the suitors for Wood with 10+ million a year have dried up.

ATL? Hornets maybe?

Wood might get the mid-level from a contender.

Its always been a good bet that FVV returns to Toronto.

I doubt that. This will be Wood's first real contract in the NBA. He is gone tho. I won't be shocked to see even Sekou gone. Weaver will start fresh, probably no one from the old regime will stay. Even Casey should be gone maybe next season.

You had me until you said “Sekou gone”. I have a better chance at sleeping with Emma Watson than Sekou has at getting traded this off-season. No way he trades Sekou after just drafting Killian. I think one of the driving factors with that pick was it made sense with Sekou.

Sekou still one of the youngest players in the league and plays a position that is very hard to find in the NBA with his potential.

Sekou isn’t getting dealt.

I feel like wood’s gonna go to Boston, would be cool if we could make it a sign and trade somehow and get some draft picks out if it.

I don't think Hayes draft had anything to do with Sekou and I never said Sekou will be dealt this offseason.

Detroit can't even S&T Wood right now unless he'd sign for 9.4M wherever, as that is all the space Detroit currently has.

I'm not sure Wood will live up to a long term contract. I suspect he's like a lot of players where he could have great situational success, but I still would say it's more likely next year we're talking about Wood's contract more than we're talking about his play.

Winner! “Christian Wood’s contract” coming to a team in two years......

He had one fifteen game stretch in four years - when he was basically the only big man on the team.

Forget all the nonsense about playing for a winner, here’s what he wants:

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Some sucker team will pay him to make a splash like the Lions do every couple of years. It won’t be the Pistons, though.

I like Wood. But I don't think he's worth a large contract to a team just starting a rebuild. I wish him well wherever he lands. I just don't see him in our long term plans. I'd rather give extended minutes to Stewart to see what he has while we tank for a great pick next season.

There’s always been talk Wood has a lot of the same problems as Whiteside. Weird attitude, inconsistent effort, prone to pouting. I really haven’t seen any of that on the Pistons though.

I’d be sad to see him go. That said, losing games is gonna happen, and it’s ok if he doesn’t stay.

I swear all this lukewarm feelings and souring towards Wood has to be some type of defense mechanism against him possibly leaving or something. The flip flopping from the same fans proposing $20 million/year not long ago is astounding. 30 days ago this guy was the future. WTF happened? Lol

We've seen players get signed before and then never live up to that contract. I don't think that will be the case with Wood. I'd be thrilled to get him at just above MLE money, but the truth is he hasn't shown how he can do in a lineup with a Rose/Kennard/Blake being the 4th option a lot of nights. He was able to eat at the man, but the team wasn't able to win with him as the man. It might have just been the perfect storm for him. A lot of how her performs will depend on where he goes. If he could to a team like Phoenix I think he could really excel with Paul running the point. If he goes to a team like NY or Charlotte he might have more problems getting his touches. He can be a great garbage guy type player but that isn't something you normally pay $15+ million a year for so part of his success will deepend on his role and his opportunities moving forward. He certainly made the most of his shot the Pistons gave him this year.

I wish Wood, Kennard, and Brown all luck and I think they are all going to have success this year.
