Outside of realizing that a full third of the US&A's adult population, at a minimum, are brainwashed sh*t bags, stuff like this has been probably the most eye-opening and frightening aspect of Trump's presidency. Just the amount of norms that have been shattered and the hyper-partisan sycophants ready to do this tin-pot dictator's bidding, regardless of the damage and or consequences. Look no further than these dipshits up in Michigan.

I lived on the border in Texas for three years and I used to mock Mexico all the time for the flagrant corruption. (For example, I had a coworker who went across for dinner one time and got escorted out of town by the police, who promptly robbed him and ransacked his car at gunpoint.) I promise you I'll never do that again.

We've obviously had plenty of tough times during our history, and I don't think I've ever voted in a presidential election that wasn't The Most Important Ever. But it feels like we've turned a real corner over these past four years that I'm not sure we're going to recover from, not with the amount of pure disinformation being regularly injected into our veins via social media and cable news.

Especially given the structural imbalances -- yes, let's give the least educated and most racist among us a grossly disproportionate voice via the Senate and Electoral College -- and assault on the judiciary via the aggressive appointment of unqualified, partisan hacks. Just hard to be particularly positive about the turn we've taken.

No one can watch those two videos and the Dr. Shiva one and come away saying this doesn't deserve to be looked into.

We all want free and fair elections, right? Well, most of us do anyway.

We all (most) deserve transparent, rock solid accountability and fairness in our elections. That's all we are asking for. Let the chips fall where they may.

If there is no there there then "There is nothing to fear but fear itself" and we can welcome Biden/Harris with our full support. We deserve to have full confidence in our elections.

So I bit and watched the Smartmatic video. So first, let's acknowledge the fact that there is no tangible connection between Smartmatic and Dominion even with Guiliani fanning himself with stacks of affidavits that he claims prove otherwise. Now, let's put ourselves in a parallel universe where Smartmatic and Dominion were the same exact the company. If we listen to that Venezuelan voting official, he pretty much stated that the process lacked auditing when 1 million votes were incorrectly added to the mentioned election. Now after watching Georgia hand count ballots (a significant percentage of which were counted with the Dominion system) and comparing those totals reliably with the digital count, I have some questions for you:

What part of that process lacked auditing? When Wisconsin does the exact same thing in about a week for just two "urban" counties will this be disregarded as well? Is the President trying to tell states what an audit should be? And at what point will this be stepping on a state's constitutional right to define their own voting laws?

The anger and derangement is only going to get worse because the base actually believes Biden stole the election. They may not be able to do anything via legal channels because it is false, but there will be lots of online conspiracy clubs stoking their rage for a long time. The alt right media is going to shape this into their new What About Hillary meme, basically the deep state (Democrats) stole this

What's so odd about this kind of belief system is only the Democrats are evil, the GOP would never stoop to anything like election tampering. It insulates their reasoning from the simple fact that the ruling party lost. The challenger stole the election from the people in charge? That's what they think. You can't convince them otherwise so there is no point in discussing it with them
