I think Mays actually makes the team right away. He’s going to be a situational usage type of end of the bench guy this year.

I still think we’ll add 3 players (one wing starter), a backup PG and JC’s backup. I still really want Jerami Grant and I’d be happy with either Harris or Hayward as long as the contracts aren’t too ridiculous. I think there are plenty of options to backup Trae. I guess Rondo would be fine, but I’d lean toward Dunn or Elfrid.

I’m guessing the cheap aisle!

“We have a lot of cap space so we’re gonna look to be active and try to go get some guys that we think (will go) well with the young core that we’ve been able to get through the draft,” Schlenk said in a draft night conference call with reporters.

The question is which aisle Schlenk will shop down. There is expensive and moderately expensive.

I really wouldn't mind Hayward. If he's healthy for the most part, I think he gives us a big boost as a vet starter.

But, what does mean for the young players we have, if we add any of the names mentioned? All of them take minutes from our young Hawks.
I predict s massive logjam on our team and a lot of players being unhappy. We need stability and starting talent that we know are sure things.

NBA draftee and NBL Next Star Justinian Jessup is expected to stay with the Hawks next season after being drafted by the Golden State Warriors on Thursday. Jessup can be called up at any time by the Warriors, but Hawks co-owner and president Dorry Kordahi said the guard is committed to the club.

Sure would be tough for the Pistons to outbid us now on Christian Wood. I’d much rather chase Wood than Gallinari. So, what if we’re able to get Bogdanovich, Wood and one of Dunn/Payton/Rondo. That would be everything we could want and more.

Those Hawks belong to Australia not Atlanta.

Was just coming in here to say that.

Trae/(Dunn, Payton, Rondo)/BG
Bogi/Huerter/Mays
Cam/Hunter/Snell
JC/Wood/
Capela/OO/Bruno

That looks like playoffs to me. Of course I would rather Grant than Wood, but not a bad plan B.

EDIT: Well Grant’s gone. Harry Giles looks available.

Looks like a team that doesn't have any real excuses anymore to not at least be contending for a bottom two playoff seed.

That's an insane amount of talent. Not sure I like the cohesion or the defensive potential, also a lot of guys that need to get their own shots (ala 2019 Boston vibes), but it should be fun to watch and they should be able to win by just outscoring whoever comes to town most nights

Ryan McDonough: To NBA Free Agents: there are only 3 teams in the league – Atlanta, New York and Charlotte – who currently have more than $10 million in salary cap space. Free Agency just started 1.5 hours ago, so if you get a solid offer in this market, my recommendation would be to take it…

Wonder if this takes us out of Bogi?

Return to Atlanta Hawks
