The guys I want getting minutes:

pg - Frank/Quickley
sg - Barrett/Bullock
sf - Knox/Iggy
pf - Toppin
c - Mitch

I don't hate Randle as a backup 4/5 but I doubt he accepts that role. That is a garbage team I would be happy to watch but I doubt they exceed 25 wins unless a couple of Frank, RJ, Knox and Mitch all took a leap.

You listed names that are under contract...until they take the floor together... that's not the roster. We won't be watching that list of players this year. Some of them... but not all.

If they are under contract, they ARE the current roster. Speculation doesnt change that

Based on players with NBA level talent we have these spots solidified. We need guards ASAP just like every year

Randles contract becomes much more valuable next year in his final year. I keep Randle let the young guys develop. You have your core of Obi, Mitch and RJ. Figure another lottery pick next draft and use the Randle 1 year contract to bring back young players with control. Trading for Harden or Westbrook would be the usual Knicks quick fix which doesn’t translate to long term success. The one exception I’d make is signing FVV to a reasonable deal.

They arent irrelevant, they are players under contract, the opposite of irrelevance, hence, currently on the roster

We shall see when the dust clears. Right now...all you have is a list of players under contract. There is no roster to speak of. Rosters practice together and play games.

To the players we have currently under contract...looks like a lot of kids will be getting minutes. I thought that last year too. And the year before. Still hasn't happened nearly enough.

If Thibs runs the vets... I'll be sick.

We don't have a vet PG unless they plug Burks in there. So there will be more moves made obviously to fill out a roster. 10 days from now camp starts. We should know what the roster could look like then.

I can't imagine playing Burks/Bullock/Randle/Davis lineups to start/finish games. Thibs will lose me immediately. The kids need to play max minutes.

a lot of you are in for a rude awakening if you think knox is going to see consistent minutes, thibs isn't going to play someone that is terrible defensively.

the signing of burks, picking up the option of bullock, and the drafting of quickly confirms knox isn't seeing minutes at the 2, those 2 guards will force rj to see more time at the 3, and the knicks drafted obi to play the 4 ... not share it with someone who's undersized.

so knox will get minimal playing time at best.

Knox needs to go to the G League, gain some confidence and maybe come back and not suck (as much). Because yeah, he's not playing much if our coaching staff knows what they're doing.

i do think gibson comes back on a vet minimum. gibson/knox/bullock/burks/dsj would probably be a very solid bench. i included skinny melo because it seems like an inevitability (which i am okay with depending on the terms of the deal)

edit: i think dsj is likeliest to go in any randle deal, so backup pg would be up for grabs

actually instead of re-signing gibson i'd sign someone like tyler zeller or anyone else that's 7 foot tall.

outside of robinson the knicks lack height.
