Looks like Al Horford is going to OKC for Green. The Thunder are also getting a first rounder and a second. No detail on what picks are involved.
Is an interesting indicator of what “buying picks” by taking on bad contracts will cost (since many of of hope we’ll do that), though Green does also have some use as a player in Philly.
Maybe they didn’t have enough 1sts that far away?
Lightly protected 1st in like 2025 and 34 this year. Works for the sixers, thunder add more picks while probably moving on from Adams
That’s a discouragingly high price for a first rounder that’s years away and an early second, TBH.
Maybe Horford is considered redeemable so his value is less negative?

OKC might have preferred the pick to be that far out. Philly's 1sts don't project to be all that attractive for the next few years. All of Embiid/Simmons/Harris contracts run out before 2025. So they could be in rebuild mode by that point. Also "lightly protected" could be as loose as only top 1 protected, who knows.

Very well could effect their strategy tonight.
Per Woj, this injury involves his right leg. His previous injury was his left ACL.

Yeah, that's encouraging. But if he's projected to miss a lot more additonal time, they could use the draft more for the future than the present. Or prioritize some salary relief in a trade back from 2.
That said, none of their core is exactly young so they probably look more towards the present.

Nice to see DJ Augustin get out of Orlando and sign with a contending team. (Milwaukee, 3 yrs, $21 mil). He's been so solid over the years. Hard to imagine that some actually thought RJ was the better player.

Wow, you’re allowed to take this approach in a rebuild? I guess there’s finally a grown up running things in NY:

Whiteside to the Kings for the vet min. Wonder what Drummond gets next year.

We know what Drummond gets this year -- Maker being an inadequate backup again. LOL@Cavs
Whiteside signing for the minimum and we're paying Plumlee how much...?

Reggie Jackson was brought back by the Clippers, one year at the league minimum salary.

Re: Around the League
So I don't remember where I heard it (maybe Locked on NBA podcast?) but someone predicted this deal with the motivation on Houston's side. The theory was that Tillman Fertitta (owner of the Rockets) has been hit hard business-wise due to covid and acquiring Wall with the intention of not playing him this year would save him $41 million. If Wall doesn't play then they can file an insurance claim for the entire salary.
So any bets on whether Wall sees the floor at all this year?

Yeah... where are all the folks who claimed that we should retain Drummond or pay him 25 million per now?

I would rather pay Drummond for 1 year than Plumlee for 3 Dedmon and Zhaire for 5 to no play and McGruder for a year.

I guess I'd rather have a root canal than have my leg amputated? But neither are good choices and both you would hope to avoid except in the most dire if circumstances.

Re: Around the League
Paying Drummond this season after he opted in would undermine building a winning culture for another year or more. No more entitled players moping like a high schooler for me, thanks.
