I don't think anyone at all is "excited" for Paul Milsap.

I'm happy. I look forward to the season with great anticipation. Lock down Tatum and I work on getting some size and/or veteran presence and I say lets get it.

Not understanding why he was not happy here. Guess he wanted to be a first option but that is a little tough when he was injured for about 50% of his time here.

Yeh agree.

Wonder how happy he will be losing in Charlotte. But then again he probably doesn’t care.

Well with Hayward gone for nothing the bench can now shine and carry the scoring load.

Because he got exposed in Boston by the players, not the fans. He came here being the star in Utah to seeing young guys like Tatum and Brown become better than help. When we got Kemba, Hayward became the 4th option.

When he got hurt again last season, Smart stepped in and arguably played better than Hayward was playing. Yes, moving Smart to the starting line up hurt the bench but we played just as well with Smart than with Hayward, if not better.

Millsap is still pretty good, dunno why everyone is **** on him. I wouldn't want him on a multi-year deal, but for a season to play 12-15 mins a game and hit some corner threes and play some OK post defense in certain matchups he's fine.

He'll play more than 15 mins if he's on our team.
Good assessment:

Ok so now what ? We need a starting 2/3 and a back up 4/5 along with bench depth. We have at least 4 open roster spots. Way under the lux tax limit.

1)Smart starts at the 2.
Kemba, Smart, Brown, Tatum, Theis. starters. This was our starting lineup for every game except 1 in the playoffs.

2) still let Wannamaker and Semi go. Also let Green go. What we have left.
Nesmith, Pritchard, Edwards, Langford, G. Will, Timelord

3) FA's
Sign Ibaka, Rondo, Giles
Bench:
Rondo, Langford, (FA SF), G.Will, Ibaka
Pritchard, Edwards, Nesmith, Giles, Timelord
Would just need a backup SF (i just don't know who is still available)

I think we have to realize that at this point, the team is basically like the early Pierce, Walker teams. We have a couple of good young players, and just a bunch of guys. At this point we're just one of a big group of teams battling for the 6 through 8 playoff spots.

He would hands down be the teams best bench player.

Yeah you're right I probably lowballed that. 20-25 is more likely. I think he'd be a fine role player. I don't think anyone wants him for multiple years or big money.

It's obviously ultimately Gordon's decision. The reason I think Danny mismanaged this is not that Hayward left. But, that Danny used draft assets to clear salary. He stashed another draft pick. He was purposely not adding roster spots. He postponed Gordon's option post draft. But then he lost him for nothing. You gotta be able to read that better.

Not a fatal mistake, and there's still offseason left, we're not tied down with any new bad contracts, etc. But, from the draft thru today hasn't gone ideally.

Agreed. He looked bad last year playing the 4. He's going to do well playing as the 5 here.
