I know I'm in the minority here, but I want to hold on to Prince.

I still think he can be a really good 3 & D guy in the right system. And defensively hes our best bet to guard wing players. There is nobody we can get on the vet min I would feel better about.

He could easily turn around his value and become a trade asset for a bigger deal next year too.

Jeff Green is a solid signing. He's not very good but he's versatile and can play 4/5. By all accounts, he's a good locker room guy too.

I don't see what we can do on the trade market but I feel like we're going to end up with Ibaka. We let too many guys slip away. I think Rodi will be moved soon for basically nothing, maybe a 2nd round pick.

Definitely some weaknesses on the roster but I think people here are focusing a little too much on what we can't do vs. all that we have. Put Ibaka in at the 5 and I don't know how you guard any of our lineups.

Something I could sort of see - Jarrett Allen + Rodi for Miles Bridges? They get a young legit starting center who they can lock up next year who will help them compete with Hayward. Not sure how high they are on Bridges but we get a guy who's on his rookie deal for an extra year. Better fit. Extra roster spot.

Kyrie/Dinwiddie/Chiozza
LeVert/Shamet/Brown
Harris/Prince/TLC
KD/Bridges/Green
DJ/Ibaka/Clax

I think our depth chart would look something like this:

Kyrie / Dinwiddie / Chiozza
LeVert / Shamet /Brown
Harris / Prince / TLC
Durant / Green / Rodi
Jordan / Allen / Clax

I was thinking similar but with minor tweaks:

Roster
Kyrie/Dinwiddie/Chiozza
LeVert/Shamet/Brown
Harris/TLC/Prince
KD/Green/Kurucs
Allen/DJ/Clax

Notes:

- LeVert and Shamet are interchangeble but I'd go with Caris to start the season then make adjuments if necessary.

- TLC > Prince and I think he's overtaken Prince in the rotation.

- Allen > DJ at this point in their careers plus Dinwiddie had good chemistry with DJ off the bench.

- Claxton to me is a natural PF. His game is Giannisesque with a jumper. He just needs minutes and reps. I'm very high on Clax.
I'd give him as many minutes as possible at the 4/5 over Kurucs/Prince.

- We could still use a legit backup 4. The dream is Milsap or Ibaka. If not use Green or Clax over Prince/Kurucs for me.
I don't think we traded for Brown for him to be third string here. I think moves will happen, not sure what exactly though.

I expect a trade.

TLC is better off the dribble than Prince but that's it. Both of them have the basketball IQ of a fruit fly.

Milsap is back to the Nuggets for 10 million. Not something we could have competed with.

Still holding out hope for Ibaka.

Supposedly Ibaka is meeting with Ujiri and the Raps today. I think there's stuff lined up and it just depends on which team he decides he wants to play for.

With or without him I hope they move Prince. He is Outlaw. Has enough talent to tempt into think there's a player there but not good enough at any single aspect of the game to stick in a good rotation.

Any team that hopes to beat the Lakers needs to have at least 2-3 agile 6'6"+ defenders who are mainly focused on being a big body that can stay in front of LBJ. He overpowers smaller defenders and is too quick for many bigger players.

It's amazing that this is still the case heading into year 18.

My post from this morning...

Jeff Green is one. We have 1-2 more to go.

Not getting in on the Covington trade may haunt us.

Yeah, if we're already at 15 on the active roster, I'd hope that there would be a trade in the works to free up space for a FA like Ibaka. If Ibaka were to sign with us, the front court rotation would be pretty good.

While I would've loved to get Covington, I can't imagine HOU doing a deal with us that doesn't extend to incorporate Harden. And since they weren't willing to trade Harden to us (at least at that time), I don't think they would've traded Covington to us.

Dinwiddie and Allen gave such great chemistry, I wouldn’t mind if Allen came off the bench. Let’s give KD, Kyrie, and DJ a chance to play together. If DJ starts costing us games, then we can start Allen.

We can’t send Prince permanently to the bench. There’s too much potential there. For example in his 2nd year in the league he made 176 three’s on 38.5%. Also by giving him minutes, we can build up his trade value. He plays a position that is hard to fill. The whole league is looking for 6’7 wings who can shoot. It’s way too early for us to give up on him.

Clax is way too raw right now. In the front court rotation he’s behind DJ, Allen, KD, and Green. How many minutes can we really afford to give him? He’s probably a year away from being a consistent part of the rotation, but he’s definitely going to be a big part of our future.

Denver pulled the QO on Torrey Craig so he's an unrestricted FA now.

Exactly. In a playoff series against Tatum and Brown, or Giannis and Middleton, we literally have no one that even on their best day, has the size, strength, and speed to guard any of those players. LeVert, Harris, Dinwiddie, Shamet...etc are not big enough. Prince is the one.

Today's game is more about running guys off the 3pt line and closing down driving lanes than it is about 1-on-1 matchups.

In a playoff series, the Celtics would have to worry about KD and Kyrie. Caris lit them up for 51 points by himself, so I think they'd have more to worry about.

You don't beat Giannis 1-on-1. You beat him with a wall. In back-to-back seasons, the Bucks were knocked out of the playoffs earlier than expected because Giannis jumper proved unreliable and he teams walled him off from the paint. If we get Ibaka, I think our front court could be pretty effective doing the same.

If we're healthy, we're a serious problem for a lot of teams. But the biggest variable is whether we're healthy or not.

Serious question: If the Clippers offseason is ultimately underwhelming and they don't get off to a good start, should we start to think about the potential of acquiring Kawhi or PG (not just Harden)?

They both have player options for 2021-22, so in theory they could walk away from LAC after this season.
