I can't get my head on 40something sf who do the same thing as our 14th pick at age 20. If this was a championship year, sure. We all know it's unlikely with tatum and JB still so young.

That's a team that could go to the finals. Heck, we were close last year and this lineup addresses the weaknesses. It's a talented and deep team that kept the JT, Kemba, Brown and Smart core intact. Just gotta get Kemba healthy is the issue.

Oh I know, I know: "but, but but, the 6ers and the Nets and the Bucks, and lions and tigers and bears. SOOOOO scary! Please.

Edit: last bit not directed at Darth and Comedian, it's just that there are so many posters going all chicken little about the team just cuz we didn't get Miles frickin' Turner or whatever. This team is going to compete!

Pretty obvious Celtics valued TT at 2 yr/19 over Turner at 3 yrs/54

Probably also the better asking price Ainge made. I wouldve liked Turner as well. But if he had TT in his mind already then it all makes sense now why it took so long.

With Turner in the deal instead of Warren it probably would've been done yesterday,

I'd sign Giles to the 3.6m or sign and trade with the TPE for him. Then have green stay number 15. if hill is bought out before the playoffs, sign him.

With smart and kemba with main pg mins, for regular season pritchard and waters will be fine.

I can understand the important rationale to bring in another vet shooter, but I really like the idea of Giles here as a reclamation project. He's buds with JT and the dude is still only 22. With TT onboard now Danny can afford to bring in a young big.

3.6m to give Tatum's best buddy a spot on the roster. They can sit on plane together. Whatever, go clubbin when all vaxed up. Remember teams signing stars brothers just for that? And, he started playing pretty good last year, and he'd be our tallest player other than tacko.

Mostly, I just think it’s good to have a few real veteran guys in the locker room.

100% with you on that thinking!

Need another wing scorer pretty badly imo. Safe to say Kemba, Tatum, and Brown will you a combined 70-75 PPG a night but the options off the bench to score are who?

Theis/TT, Grant Williams, Nesmith, Romeo, Timelord, Pritchard is probably the top 11 in rotation right now

Yup. Soaks minutes at a position/skillset of need.

Makes the bench older (whether him or Theis).

Matchable salary.

Pretty much had to do it.

Woah woah woah, gotta stop doing lines if you think that's a finals roster.

And let's put last year's ECF run into a little bit of context. 76ers and Nets got real better. It won't be a bubble season again. And we can't count on the Greek Freak **** the bed again. Or Ben Simmons getting injured at the worst possible time.

There were a lot of factors to that ECF run that likely won't be there. And there is always that looming threat of a Harden going to the 76ers or Nets making them one if not the favorites in the league for the title.

Right now we are who we are, below contenders levels stuck in that **** second round mid tier. Having dick measuring contests with Indy and the Heat and the Raps when we all know it doesn't really matter.

Well TT seems like a good fit, most importantly perhaps if R Will breaks it gives the c's a 10 million dollar salary you can use in a trade. Also importantly he's goo defensively unlike Kanter. Shores up the C rotation nicely.

On the other hand the wing spot is now weak. With only the BAE at 3.66 million and the Kanter trade exception to work with you likely arent going to find a wing who solidifies the position. Probably just someone who will compete for minutes. Nesmith/Langford are gonna be under a lot of pressure to perform this year. One of those guys HAS TO give you high quantity/quality minutes now. We'll likely see a lot more G Will at PF than center.

Could also still use a backup PG. Dont wnat to have to rely on a rookie at that position, because if he can't hack it not having a back up PG can kill your team.

I don't get the desire for Giles at all. Guy has been done ever since his second ACL injury before he even got to Duke.

No, no, great move. I’m sure this will go swimmingly well...

Enjoy the shiny new toy guys.

This is about as plausible of a damage control move as we were going to come up with.

Nobody's celebrating in the streets over TT, but we needed bigman depth. And we needed bigman depth who's primary value didn't lie in taking away shots from our scorers.

Thompson is a huge upgrade on defense over Kanter.

Probably. But not a good post up player with no shooting. No rim protection as well, which is what we needed.

Even if it is, it’s only what $9.5mil or whatever? Good salary ballast for a trade too

Edwards up there on the shelf: "Y'all remember them EIGHT three points that one time in preseason -- in the third alone?!?!?"

Actually, if the team brings in another vet shooter I think it helps keep Carsen around. He might still be a nice "microwave" player to have off the bench once he settles down a bit. We know he can do it, but will he?

Kemba Tatum and brown 70, Theis and TT should net 16 easy, Smart 12 easy, Nesmith 12 gets you to 110. I think we have plenty of scoring, we are short on Bigs who can swtich and shotblocking. Nesmith is the bench scorer.

Yeah it's nice to have a midlevel contract on the books in case we need to get to a certain amount to make a trade work. All our guys either get paid a lot or a little and it's been hard to make the trade math work.
