As an ex Knicks fan I'll tell you why they signed him. They think if they hire a new GM, a new coach, a new President, that somehow free agents will want to come play for them. But James Dolan still owns the team.

So when they strike out on EVERYONE, they sign whoever will take the money, and move on to next year. In 4 years, they will be in the lottery signing one year deals. I would put money on it.

If he’s playing 18 minutes that leaves 30 minutes for Robinson ignoring the minutes that Obi and Randle will get at center. You can make the same calculations at the PF position. Frankly the Knicks should just be amassing young talent and focus on developing them instead of bringing in role players

To be fair, Randle is still 25 — and Obi will turn 23 in March — so not a huge age difference there, about 2 and a half years. Knox doesn’t look like he’s worth developing anyway.

If we do get rid of Randle, then for who and what ? I’m certain the market isn’t hot for him and his services. Initially I was thinking they might parlay his contract into a Westbrook trade, but they’re saying they’re not interested. Wall says he wants out, but I can’t imagine he wants to move backwards and go to a less talented team, rebuilding team like NYK.
