So.... what do we do about the frontcourt now?

Post#1 » by LoveMyRaps » Sun Nov 22, 2020 4:45 am

As of now.... our starting center is Chris Boucher. And his backup is Dewan Hernandez...
Pascal's backup is... no one.

Our bigs are Siakam, Boucher, Hernandez. That is all.

Lot of decent FA replacements have already signed new contract (i.e. Noel, Poetl, Thompson, etc.)
I'd like Giles. But not in a starting role. He's made of glass and has had major injury issues since his college days. You can't rely on him to play more than 40 games.

So...
How would go about addressing the front court if you were Masai and co.?

Lets get Demarcus Cousins on a 1 year. Win-win for both sides. We need frontcourt scoring and rebounding. He gets all the opportunity here to prove himself again and work with our medical staff. Get it done Masai.

Thompson signed with the Celtics like three hours ago. And why would Gasol agree to a vet min deal?

TT signed with the Celtics.
Gasol is washed. You also can't rely on him to play even 50 games at this stage of his career. I'd like it if we could have back on the vet min, but we'll need way more than just Gasol.

We will likely sign Gasol or another veteran big, but the real answer is it doesn’t really matter what we do because we aren’t contending with this team next season as is outside of a James Harden trade.

Strong, long wingspan, explosive athlete, elite rebounder and great rim protector. Proven winner. Can be had for cheap. Just entering his prime

Because he remains one of the better defensive bigs in the NBA and can get more than the vet min as a result.

If he was going to sign a vet min deal by some chance, it would be with an actual contender as well not the Raptors.

If we get Gasol back, I hope they get him more involved on offense. Hate to see a 20PPG C being so passive.

Lol Boucher it is. We still have the MLE but Harrell/Baka/Yak/etc. all the good centres are basically gone Masai and Bobby sat too long
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars

Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

Would love to see a return as he was one of my fave Raps back in 2016 but he's so limited offensively.

Return to Toronto Raptors
