If Tristan is the one who is supposed to break the streak I hope it makes it to 14 seasons.

Plays hard in the playoffs, and that's what we need.

I'll rip my hair out if Tristan **** Thompson starts shooting threes for us.

Dude he took one three every 3 games and made one every 7. It's not part of his game.

Haven’t watched him properly since Lebron left Cleveland tbh. He was really good then although I’m sure he’s probably lost abit of a step on the boards and in terms of staying In front of smaller guys.

I will gladly settle for him getting that awful FT% into the 70s+ !!

very happy about this signing ! we need more grit & toughness ! would rather have tyler Johnson than teague but Pritchard has a lil dawg in him too ! like how the roster is shaping up
TT is a DAWG !

Thompson had a TS% of 54% last season?? That's terrible. All our regular rotation bigs were 60%+ TS%. He did better when Lebron was in Cleveland so playing for a non-garbage team could help his efficiency (not his FT shooting though). Anyway, I don't think he was brought in for his offense/shooting.

welcome to boston tristan.

he's one of those guys i always hated to go against. seems like he always got a big offensive rebound when they needed it. but otherwise pretty mediocre. mediocre D, mediocre scoring. i guess we'll find out how his 3 ball is, maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised like with horfie.

don't love this signing but still would rather have tristan than myles turner. forget the dumpster fire that was cleveland post-lebron, guy plays winning basketball.

People worry to much about shooting a three pointer when it comes to big men. It nice skill to have, but i like what Thompson brings.

He is not a high usage guy (and is fine with it), has a super high motor, is physically tough and a good rebounder. Apprichiate what you have, no need to be greedy all the time. Considering who was available and what this team needs Tristan was the right choice.
Boston Celtics depth chart:

Guards: Holiday, White, Pritchard
Wings: Tatum, Brown, Hauser, Brissett
Bigs: Porzingis, Horford

OTOH, he a solid rebounder, but so was Kanter. I really want to see Robert Williams get into shape and get 20min+ per game.

Rather have Horford back with a trade involving Kemba. Say what you want about Horford, but he's elite in passing and on the D-boards.

TT is a better defender but I think he's a downgrade from Kanter overall as a player.

Obviously matchups matter but it isn't like our team was swiming with offensive threats off the bench and we just lost a 20 ppg player for nothing.

I would have rather had Kanter back.

But backup Centers don't matter too much and these backups are close enough that the difference doesn't matter.

I think danny thought Turner was coming so he traded Kanter. Him and Kanter do very different things but overall TT is a better fit, he can score a little and defend, he is actually coming off a double double season last year. I think with better players around him he will be even better. We needed rebounding and someone to bang with bigs. We did not get an imposing shotblocker but 2 out of 3 aint bad Defenisvily this is a big deal. He is only 28 and when had had good teamates he posted high winshare seasons. His per was 18 last year. He has championship experiance and turned down more money from cleavland to play for a winner, he is motivated. With Guys like JT, JB and Kemba scoring a bunch we need dirty work bigs who will pick up the scraps. IF he can be an Aaron baynes level 3 point threat this is a big win.

i think Kanter was gone regardless. he was unplayable for any stretch in the playoffs. so tantalizing with all his scoring and rebounding but you look up and the team always lost ground on the scoreboard. good dude tho. i kind of had a questionable opinion of him before he got here, was pleasantly surprised.

but i'd rather have a high-motor, low-usage guy like TT by a longshot, given that we have plenty of scorers already.

Did we give the full MLE to this guy?

Kris Humphries, Tristan Thompson -- who's next?

Not Lamar Odom, I presume. :)

Random useless trivia: The last time a Celtics center scored at least 35 points was in March 1994 (Dino Radja).

No, Tristan Thompson won't sniff a 30-point game in a Celtics uniform. He was signed to set screens, rim-run, finish around the rim, defend, and rebound.

Was it the full MLE? If it's the full MLE, I dunno, I'll wait and see. I kinda like Baynes more for the full MLE cause he's a taller dude and his 3 has been silky smooth. I'll preserve my judgement for when he plays.
