1) pascals contract will eff us. It already has. We had no space to keep ibaka
2) Masai has not resigned and could pull a theo Epstein
3) ibaka went for way less than we thought and that is gonna sting for a while.
The Raps decided not to give a multi-year deal to a player over 30 years old. They could've offered Ibaka 3/45 and signed him on the first day of free agency. But that's not best for the Raps future.
The Raps want to preserve cap space for 2021. You can't do that by signing Ibaka beyond 1 year.
You pay pascal 4/80 and you can keep ibaka. Bird rights don’t mean they avoid the repeater tax. They would have been crushed with the repeater tax. Paying pascal a max is why ibaka is gone. It’s a terrible contract and constrains us going forward
