The Knicks have made it abundantly clear that they're going to try and win. Payton is going to start because he's proven more than Frank or DSJ at this point. Although Payton is more talented that the other two, it's obvious through his play that he is only looking out for his stats/contract status. A good number of people are forgetting the amount of times RJ was visibly frustrated due to his lack of attention. Guess we have another year of looking forward to this.

RJ will probably start with Burks as to other wing starter. Once again, since the Knicks want to win, Randle is probably staying/starting. Thibs is going to go over the proven talent over potential and no matter how flawed his production comes, he has proven production.

I think the biggest question mark is at Center. Obi probably won't start here because it puts him at an extreme disadvantage defensively. Mitch most likely will start but if his production lags and he can't remain consistent/out of foul trouble then i could easily see Thibs starting Noel and them splitting the minutes at C. The bench is a crapshoot in the backcourt but I ultimately see the rotation looking like this:

1. Payton / Frank / DSJ
2. Burks / Bullock / Quickely
3. RJ / Knox / Iggy
4. Randle / Topping
5. Mitch / Noel / Davis

That just feels like it is nowhere close to happening. Frank isn't the guy to be running a team as he doesn't break down a defense, he does tend to make the proper passes on the perimeter though. If we had someone else taking the job of breaking down the defense at SG or SF it mitigates need for your PG to do that, just not sure if RJ is ready to run it.

I would like Frank at SG if he can get his 3pt% 37+ I am also wanting RJ at SF, feel like SG isn't the spot for him.

Since you brought it up why do you think SF is a better spot for him (RJ)? SG and SF can be pretty Interchangeable these days. Is it a defense thing? I think if anything he will run into more favorable matchups for his offense at SG since many teams are going extra small there.

Noel is a mirror of Mitch which makes me think that Toppin will purely be a 4 and team with Noel most of the time. I don't see Thibs having Randle at the 5 with Toppin because he likes his interior defense.

Knicks may want to get a stretch big man. Anyone available?

1: Frank | Payton | Smith Jr.
2: Burks | Bullock | Quickley
3: Barrett | Knox | Iggy
4: Randle | Toppin
5: Robinson | Noel | Davis

This is what I expect will probably happen. I think Burks will have a pretty good shot to start though.

Well yeah, we gotta rack up those wins by playing the vets

Elf
Burks
Bullock
Randle
Noel

Sad part is, I'm only half joking that I expect this to be our starters at least once without injuries.

They didn't bring in vets on one-year deals to start. I don't think you draft the most NBA ready prospect in the draft to have him come off the bench for someone who isn't in the plans. All of the coaches we hired are developmental coaches.
All of the vets we signed play defense.

As far as I can tell, the plan is to see which one of these youth are keepers while building a defensive identity. I expect Frank, RJ, Mitch and Toppin to start. I'm expecting minutes for DS Jr., Knox, Brazdeikis and Quickley. We might finally get to see "keep what you kill" under Thibs.

We have a shortened season with no fans in the stadium to boo if the product looks awful. We have 8 players that are young and still question marks in this league and we need to figure out which of them are keepers. I still think we are going to be in a lot more games than last year with an actual defensive plan and a coach who forces players to be accountable. They are going to try and win while focusing on developing our youth.

I like RJ matching up on both O and D with small forwards. For me it is more about speed than size as I feel he has a tough time with the faster players and can handle the stronger players, and that includes when he has the ball in his hands.

Cool story bro. We signed even more 1 year deals last year and they all played over the kids. Hell...we brought Payton back for another go around!! ABSOLUTE TRASH MOVE.

I appreciate your positive outlook but...we literally just duplicated last season. With that said...Obi will be the only rookie getting minutes. Book it. Frank/DSJ will be forced to fight a bum for minutes yet again. Burks and Bullock will get minutes over the kids. Randle will get minutes. Mitch better stay out of foul trouble!!!

Second verse same as the first.

Best case scenario. With kids improving.

Frank/DSJ
RJ/Frank/Quickey
Bullock (for political reasons)/Quickley/Knox
Obi/Knox/Knox/Knox/Noel
Mitch/Noel/Obi

What will happen

Payton/Payton/DSJ/Frank/Randle
RJ/Payton/DSJ/Frank
Obi/Randle
Randle/Randle
Mitch/Randle
CEO of the not trading RJ club.

Toppin has to start. We didn't draft the most NBA ready player in the draft to have him come off the bench. Barrett should get most of his minutes at SF. Randle needs to accept the backup 4/5 role or be gone. Payton should only play if there is an injury or DSJr looks the same as last season. I don't have Davis in the rotation.

ā€¢ Watch Payton start @PG #vetprivilege

ā€¢ Watch Randle start over Toppin #vetprivilege

ā€¢ Barrett will be playing SG. They are not gonna slot him at SF as a prospect and play him in front of another prospect in Knox. That just doesn't make any sense. On the wing they will go vet/prospect (Barrett/Burks @SG and Bullock/Knox @SF).

ā€¢ Burks was signed to be the clear 6th man scorer

Harper is the other 2-way deal. Powell signed an Exhibit 10 deal.

19 players...most of them guards. Who is going? Evans and Powell look.like odd men out.
