Re: Nets Going Forward: Planning for Next Season
One thing I'm curious about is if Ibaka was going to play C was there a Jarrett Allen trade lined up as a follow-up move?
For all the talk about Dinwiddie being trade bait, Allen probably makes more sense because he's still young/cheap and it's not terribly hard to find a backup big - hell, Green may be the closing C right now even with Allen on the roster.
I don't think it makes sense to trade Dinwiddie right now - I think he's a much better trade chip in season, ideally once someone else has established themselves as a capable 6th man/PG (Chiozza? Brown?). Until then he is the ultimate Kyrie insurance plan.
Allen + Prince on the other hand could possibly bring back a comparably aged former lotto forward (like one of the Bridges) + filler who fits the roster better.

We got Din's bird rights right? Kyrie injuries prone right right? We've seen how thin we were past season when it came to guards right? Tsai proving yet again he's willing to spend right? Now please explain to me why some want to trade Din every time opportunity ces around, I'm just dumbfounded.

I think there's a perception that he may want to move on to get a bigger role elsewhere - whether or not it's true I don't think anyone really knows. I tend to agree more with the idea of keeping him though unless there's something that comes along that's just too good to pass up.

Re: Nets Going Forward: Planning for Next Season
In lieu of Ibaka did some reading this AM and not sure how this impacts next year's cap, but without many options out there I think flipping Prince (12.5mx2) for Rudy Gay (14.5mx1) is probably the best simple move that could be made.
It's not too hard to envision a switch everything front court of Green - KD - Gay to close out games. And as an expiring contract Gay would be easier to package at the deadline if necessary and is just less of a project all around. Would think SA would be willing to take on the 2nd year of Prince to get a player 7 years younger with more upside but maybe a pick needs to get thrown in (or Kurucs/Claxton?).
Then add Roberson on a minimum deal with the final roster spot.
Irving - Dinwiddie - Chiozza
Levert - Brown
Harris - Shamet - Roberson
KD - Gay - Kurucs/Claxton
Jordan - Allen - Green
Assuming Brown and Shamet are in the rotation there are already 9 guys that figure to get consistent minutes. 2 deep at every position except PF - where Kurucs, Green, Claxton, Prince or whoever else they add (like Gay) would be #10. That's a big rotation so there may be something bigger than a simple 1 for 1 in the works, but I'd really like to see that group above.
Brown / Roberson / Levert / KD /Allen would be all kinds of interesting on the defensive end.

I think TLC is a better player than Chiozza.
He should be one of our 15 active players.

Re: Nets Going Forward: Planning for Next Season
Bottom line....everyone is back except Musa, Temple and Chandler.
I believe we did upgrade with Green, Shamet and Brown but is it enough? I personally think it is, but only if we can somehow stay healthy.
Also kind of skeptical of a deadline trade in this shortened season, if we are going to make a move we are better off making it sooner rather than later.

What the hell is he doing?
If he thinks this roster is good enough to beat the Lakers he's kidding himself

He’s working on something but I hope it’s worth the wait.

Re: Nets Going Forward: Planning for Next Season
I don't understand people freaking out about our FA so far.
We got Harris back + a defender in Brown + the stretch 4/5 we needed in Green.
Not to mention we have NEVER seen our core + KD/Ky together yet so we have NO CLUE how good or bad we really are.
At this point it's all on paper and speculation, I fail to see why people think Marks hasn't done enough so far.
We still can make 1 decent signing + trades are still a possibility. Chill.

Get Morris for the MLE and call it a day.
Only thing we need is a stretch 4.

Agreed. Our FA moves are basically adding Kyrie + KD.
We didn't have the money to make any other major moves and this roster is perhaps the deepest in the league.

We’re already 3 days into free agency, and Houston only has 9 players on their roster.

Not his natural position. I'd like someone else there in case besides Jeff Green.

I know, I am just freaking out because the Lakers and other contenders are signing dudes left and right

They've always been like that. They have a seriously strong bond.

Curry / Klay / Iguodala / KD / Draymond
He spent a lot time in the last three years playing the 4.
