Re: Trade Thread #8: All Gordon things come to an End
Zeller is their starting center. Not sure they’d want to include him. Rozier seems more likely.
I think they’ll find a way to move Rozier to someone. His contract is a negative that they need to attach something to in order to move. As the cost for the S&T we pay the cost of doing so.

Tpe doesn’t expire for a year so we can use it next year.
I have us $13.5M below the luxury tax line of Teague signed for the bi annual exception or $15.7M if he signed for minimum. Our hard cap is actually about $6.7M higher than that at the apron but can’t imagine we’d want to go into the tax right now.
And then any deal is likely going to involve us sending out a player off the roster. So that would give us more room under the tax to use more of the TPE.
We seem to be off by a 1.5 mil by your numbers we can take on Zeller and straighten it out before the end of the season if it puts them over the tax.
If Batum is as bad as it sounds like he is then they should just waive him but you would want to clean that up this year not have a -9 on your cap for the next two years.
Would Boston consider taking back Zeller, if they also send along with Hayward, Javonte Green and Semi Ojeleye, both making less than 1.6 mil each (total around 3.3 mil) and both expiring contracts. This would end up being 27.5 (I believe first year for Hayward), plus 3.3 mil totaling 30.8 mil coming into Charlotte, with 15.5 going out for a difference of 15.3 mil that Charlotte would need in cap space which they have, and give Boston a 22.7 mil TPE. This way they don't have to stretch Batum. Is this correct?
Sure I am not sure they need to involve Green and Ojeleye but it might help. Boston can just waive Green. While some on this board don't seem to love Ojeleye the Celtics do and reaffirmed that twice this week.

I think they only picked up his option in case he needed to be used in the possible S&T to Indy. Then they had to guarantee it or release him all together I think. I know we can just waive Green, by if we can dump him on Charlotte and make our TPE a little bigger, why not?

Love semi the person and don't hate him as a player. I just wanted a shiny new toy who I can irrationally imagine is going to be amazing once he plays for the Cs!

Rozier played well for them 18/4/4 on 40% from 3. Not sure they are going to want to move him and don't think it would be a challenge to do so.

So is it really the S&T a possibility to happen at this point? Thought they were gonna stretch Batum

At least from reading their board here on RealGM, their fanbase overwhelmingly wants to trade him. They consider him complete empty stats. The voices defending him are very few and far between.

That said, Terry is close to neutral value to me. Problem is not too many teams are really looking for PGs.

They have to have their own solution before dealing with Ainge. Stretching Batum sucks it is a minus 9 mil on their cap for two more years.

Terry is a SG. Again you can love or hate him but 40% from 3 is what it is.

I like him. Not love or hate, but he’s a pg / short sg. Either way, not high demand at $18M. Neutral seems about right to me.

We can't. He puts us over hard capjmr07019 wrote:sully00 wrote:ddb wrote:Why the F would Boston want to take back Zeller? Hahah. I’m all set with Zellers
It is what the conversation is about right? Why do a S&T?
Zeller had a PER of almost 19 so he is worth 15 mil bucks. CHA probably wants to hold on to him. It is also just trade asset we just don't have. The only tradeable contract at this point is Smart and now I guess Thompson.
Why not just take Batum? He gives you a big contract to trade and plays a position with more available minutes than Zeller. We already have Theis, R Will and Thompson at center we don’t want another guy wanting minutes. At wing we have Smart, Brown and Tatum starting and after that unproven rookie contract guys. I’m higher on Nesmith than most but still

Part of the problem seems to be (if you believe the scuttlebutt, which as a rule I don't, but there may be something to it in this case), that he really wants to be, and thinks of himself as, a lead guard. Supposedly already making noise and basically packed his bags when they acquired Ball and Hayward.
Rozier, in the right role, and at the right dollar value, has use. Just got to find the right situation, and get him to buy into it somehow.
