If the plan is for Giannis, what follows that? Because a team with Giannis/Bam/Jimmy all playing significant minutes will lead to inevitable spacing issues. Talent alone probably isn't getting that core a chip

As long as Jimmy/Bam/Giannis are all playing 30+ mins and taking a significant share of the shots it should be an issue

Do we currently have spacing concerns?
Dragic, Nunn, Herro, and DRob all can hit a 3, some at a highly efficient rate. There is also hope the Precious can develop a reliable touch as well, not to mention the hope is Bam will finally stretch his game out as his pre-draft workout showed he can. If anything, I says a Giannis signing is what finally forces Spos and Bams hand to take those shots with more frequency. Our floor spacing will be fine.

Seasons over.
We’re not making the playoffs without Solomon, let alone winning a ring.

I'm usually at least intrigued if not optimistic about the farm-team guys, but I don't really see it with these 2.
1 is a tiny guard that can't pass and isn't an elite shooter - so that's basically leaves no path to a NBA rotation.
The other is like a less talented, less alethic clone of the guy we drafted at #20.
How can we even see what they've got without Gleague games.
I do like Vincent more then most I think, I believe he can be an elite shooter and a plus defender guard, and there's a role for a guy like that.

The lion share of our shots isn't coming from someone who can't shoot rn; If Giannis is our hail mary then those are some honest concerns that should be considered. I'm not asking what if Bam becomes a great 3pt shooter in the next season, I'm asking what if he doesn't and our big 3 can't shoot

We do a great job with players on their shot. Id expect a guy like Tyree, who looks like a natural scorer, to benefit from that. From what I've read, his defense needs some fine tuning. Our PG rotation is in flux and we need to see if we can get the right guy to pan out. Tyree could be that guy.
Eboua is a piece of clay. Hes going to take a couple years to fine tune but he has excellent size and athleticism. Hes pretty aggressive as well. Hes worth a chance at developing.
Its all relative for me. What could they max out to be? What if they get there? These are two good projects.

Assuming Bam never progresses as a 3pt shooter, and Butler continues to avoid it like the plague, then you need 2 highly efficient shooters with those big 3. In our current roster, that would mean Herro and DRob starting and ending with the big 3 and then staggering the big 3 with our other lesser efficient shooters.
Herro/Butler/DRob/Giannis/Bam
Plenty of ball handling in that lineup to not need a full time ball handling PG, plenty of defense to mask Herro and DRob, with those two masking the shooting shortages of the big 3.

Hopefully they've taken in account that Butler is probably done with basketball after this current contract and with that, loosing a key piece of the team for nothing and having no real wiggle room to replace him(Bam max, Robinson paid, Herro getting paid, whoever they spend money on in 2021).
The clock is ticking with a very good player, and half his 4 year contract the FO has decided to limit the roster's talent by only offering 1-2 year contracts.
So is this going to be the new narrative, that the front office has decided to "limit" the roster's talent? Dude, literally everybody knew the game plan was going to be maximizing cap space for 2021. This is not a new development, all year we knew. If anybody thought they were going into this FA by signing guys to multi year deals or trading for players that jeopardized 2021 cap space, they just weren't paying attention.
Things can be fluid based on what happens like, getting lucky to get a max play to force his way to your team although he's near the end of his prime, having players develop enough to help that max player make it to the finals. It amazes me that no matter getting to the finals or being knocked out in the first round this team would just do the same damn thing.
If you have a legit shot at a title you have to take the shot. Miami had one last year and didn't really capitalize on it, they absolutely needed a defensive big, another vet scorer would have helped greatly instead, just tread water till 2021 and hope a top tier talent makes this team much better than doing that through the trade route.
If Butler or Bam have a bad injury this next season, if this team doesn't get a top tier player in FA next summer things can go really bad quickly for immediate future of this franchise.

That's a legit point, basketball wise those 3 aren't the cleanest fit.
You have to hope that :
1) Talent trumps all. You're better having elite talent with a iffy fit then having a great fit with iffy talent.
2) Bam expand his shooting game and Jimmy retunes to his good shooting seasons.
3) you'll have elite shooting on the other positions (PG + SG)
4) You try to maximize their advantages and hide the weaknesses. Basically good coaching. You stagger minutes, you help them expand their games, you run plays that work. If the offense isn't great, you could easily build the best defensive team in the NBA with those 3.
If all fails, you'll need to think about trading 1 of them down the road for a better fitting piece.

QUIZ wrote:This is nothing new tho, we gave up two years of Wade's prime to build the big 3 and we got 2 titles out of it and four finals trips. Wade was a top 3 player in the league at the time and by waiting for 2010 FA he really only had one season left at that level.
If you're going to make win now moves you have to be sure that you're actually gonna win now. What moves did you want the Heat to make this off season? Let's say we threw caution to the wind and offered long term contacts, what is that really netting us?
Goran back plus maybe Gallo while giving Bam his max extension? Is that a championship team? Is that team beating the Lakers? It's definitely a better team than what we have right now but at what cost? The Heat have maximum flexibility now to both try and win now, to sign a max FA next off season whether it be Giannis or Kawhi, and we also have the assets and perfect contracts to trade for any star that may come available. We're on the right track as always. We're already a contending team and Jimmy has only been here for one season. That's way more than those 08-09 and 09-10 Heat teams ever were.
After treading water next season, you have Butler for 2 more seasons and he may/probably be gone like he's mentioned for years now. Miami absolutely will be losing an all-star talent(retire or decline) in a few seasons, so adding another is only for a few seasons untill Butler no longer is that for Miami.
On D.Wade, he was much younger in this situation, not near the end of his prime.

Again though you aren't saying what the win-now move would've been. Is it signing Gallo to that Hawks contract or giving Jae his 3 years? Or maybe stealing Ibaka from the Clippers by giving him the MLE for two years? (Though I doubt he chooses us over them)
Beyond that I just can't see what we missed out on by only giving one year deals with team options in year 2. If your main argument is that we got slightly worse this offseason by choosing this strategy vs getting slightly better then fair enough. But I just don't see where we missed out on a needle mover by staying the course even if we consider Jimmy's age.
