Re: What are your expectations for RJ's second season?
The funny thing is that I actually think he'd be best off paired with Westbrook as Russ's Robin but thats a different story.
As it is, hopefully he worked on his handles and explosiveness cause he's going to need be able to create his own shot a bit better than he has with Payton as the starting PG if he wants to take that next step.
I say somewhere in the 17-18ppg range is reasonable. Maybe to go with about 6.5rpg and 3apg. Shooting wise 44%ish and 34% from 3. More if I thought the offense could move better and if the Knicks had a better no.1 option able to draw attention away from Barrett and give him some better looks, passes in stride, etc.

I see that vision. His secondary play making is valuable... for the times Westbrook isn’t dribbling the ball.

Re: What are your expectations for RJ's second season?
He was gearing up for a great run to end the year last season too
Pre-ASB:
14/5/2 on 39/32/61 splits, .466 TS, 23% USG
Post-ASB:
17/5/3 on 45/33/63 splits, .527 TS, 27% USG
I think if he could replicate that for next year, it'd be a very solid step forward for him, and I think if we get rid of Randle and start anyone not named Elfrid Payton he can do it.

Re: What are your expectations for RJ's second season?
Sadly, the presence of Randle and Payton clouds any projection. It will be very hard to know what numbers he can put up or how much he can impact winning on a functional team with proper spacing.
But I anticipate RJ will pick up right where he left off and show more consistency than he did his rookie year.
I expect about 18/5.5/3.5 on slightly below-average scoring efficiency.
I always thought he was raw coming out of college but that his potential was through the roof. I expect him to take off in year 3 or year 4 rather than this season. But as long as he shows progress especially with his jumpshot, I'll be happy.

Re: What are your expectations for RJ's second season?
The thing that surprised me the most right from summer league was his lack of hops , at least compared to what I expected. I thought this translated into tough takes at the rim for RJ. His touch at the cup was surprisingly bad and so if he can develop a couple of go to moves (eurostep and floater for example) instead of forcing tough angle muscled up shots he will be on his way to a better sophomore season. I like the way he gets to the rim, just need him to finish better. If the team can run more I think he will also look a lot better.

Something like this or a bit better. I beleive in his work ethic.
For all the crap that randle gets for being a ball hog (some of it warranted) he shot the ball 15.7 times a game to rj shootinf 13 times a game.
Ita not like randle was taking 25 shots a game.
If anything it was Morris getting traded that allowed to take more shots and do better after the all star break.
Rj needs to shoot better from 3 so his drives open up more and he needs to up his free throws to the high 70s.
But i believe he can because of his his work ethic.

Payton will hurt him if he plays significant minutes. I'm hoping Smith or Frank man the PG spot as RJ has better chemistry with either. He and Obi together will feed off of each other. I see something like 19/5/4

I see Obi as the focal point of the offense, and his ability to pass is going to help RJ’s game a lot more than Dubious Handles ever did or will.

Get rid off Payton and Randle, get Lonzo and he will make 16/5/5 easily.

Stiff Robot gets 17 ppg on low efficiency. Horrible picks at #3. Knicks should have traded back for 2 picks.

Re: What are your expectations for RJ's second season?
I won’t get into raw averages and blah blah. But, I would like to see him improve his shooting efficiencies across the board. I am expecting him to shoot at least a respectable 70-72% from the line and 33-35% from 3.

RJ needs a dynamic PG to unlock his potential, until then we aren’t seeing the true RJ.

Re: What are your expectations for RJ's second season?
I just want more efficiency but most importantly more confidence.
Is he gonna be Lonzo ball, Jaylen Brown or Jason Tatum.
I think he be a #2 option wih a chance to be a #1

He had a very good year, but he's not really like those players. Jaylen Brown maybe, but that dude can guard, shoot and jump. RJ is still going to be good though, but he must knock down threes.
