nothing much, working from home has been nice. i actually have more time in the day now since i don't have a commute anymore. not that i've been doing much with it but its nice to have anyway

The virus here is relatively better managed here than in the US thanks to contact tracing and 24 hour turnaround in rapid testing so there is some semblance of normalcy in terms of making it to work for some meetings and just being elsewhere instead of working from home all the while.

I have a PhD deadline coming up so I’ve pretty much been in work mode most of the time, I’ll be glad to be done with it and I have a postdoctoral contract lined up as well so it’s not too bad considering others circumstances.

I was planning to go the alps for some hiking but flying on a plane in the summer seemed like the dumbest thing to do.

Vegas during Christmas is lovely if you're single and can't/won't visit your family.

Depends on what you hope to do in Vegas. If you're into gambling, you could have a great time going there by yourself. If you want to do the clubs, bars and buffets, visit a few sights nearby, a group of friends would be nice. If you're into shows and shopping, go with a girlfriend/sister/mom etc.

I'd highly recommend going to the old downtown away from the strip. It has a bit more character than the in your face commerciality of the strip.

eh, i don't mind the commercial aspects. i'm a touristy tourist. i don't care about living like the locals when i'm on vacation. i like seeing the sights and historical stuff (hoover dam was on my to-do list).

i don't drink, gamble, or party but i'm sure i'll have a good time either way
