Re: Future Draft Games
Before your first round pick (this won't be revealed until you're on the clock), you will be given a decade that you must select 4 out of your first 5 picks with. 1 out of the first 5 picks can be any season that's allowed in the game. Your last 3 picks cannot be a season you used for any of the first 5 picks. No accolade restrictions. 1960-2020. No multiplier.

I think we need to wait a while before we do another "Restrictions of first X picks" type games.

Re: Future Draft Games
Have we done a draft with gradually increasing FGA limits for every pick? The first pick of the draft would be 3.0, the second 3.2 and it would gradually increase until the last pick when it would be 22, 24 something like that.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Gradually increasing screws over the people in the middle. The top and bottom always get the best players of each new "tier" of Field Goal Attempts.

There wouldn't be tiers. It would start at 3.0 for the first pick and each pick after go up 0.1 or 0.2. Here are the increasing limits for each of the 128 picks (16 players x 8 rounds)
One issue is someone like LeBron whose lowest FGA season is in his prime - so whoever got 17.6 first is assured prime LeBron. Most players have lesser versions at lower fga's.

Is the game feasible in this format without the BR Play Index? You'd be spending a lot of time searching for seasons with those exact FGA numbers.
Maybe going with ranges would work better.

This might need it's own thread. My first thought is we get a dozen regular players to contribute eight bucks and that buys us a year. Maybe the person gathering the money and setting up the account gets a free ride.
I don't know how closely they follow people logging in from different IPs.

Still concerned some people could get very lucky. LeBron and Magic both have a prime season with their lowest FGA. There are probably more. I know people aren't always crazy about one MVP/multiple first teamers but....

This game would definitely need it. The double draft game was almost predetermined by only having an MVP restriction.

We could do a 2021 predictions draft where the winner isn't determined until the end of the year. 2021 Players only.

I've run one the last couple of years, but last year we didn't actually have a winner because most of the voters went AWOL.

Re: Future Draft Games
We could do another draft where we have 2 draft picks that are equal or under say like 22 FGA or you can use an exception to draft one player higher than 22 FGA

How is everyone searching for players in these games if it's done at Stathead and costs money?

It's not lack of trust, it's not cutthroat, etc.
If you can change an obviously mistaken pick, can you change a pick when you've simply changed your mind? What if you made an obviously mistaken pick but don't realize it until several picks later? How about you changed your mind, the next person has picked, and you'd like to change with the consent of the sole person who has picked after you?
That's the kind of stuff you'll get into.
I hear your concerns, but I think as a small group we could think of a way to mitigate those risks while also allowing for someone like Jordan Syndrome from not being screwed late rounds by an honest mistake that he would have been able to quickly change without anyone else picking. Maybe we can come back to this in the future drafts thread - I realize this is now distracting from discussion on the draft. Thanks for hearing me out.
I just think it makes the games messier and isnt fair to the people who are careful with the rules. Nor is it pair to the commissioner who would now need to process all of those protests.
Someone has to be inconvenienced when a mistake is made. I see no reason why that should be anyone other than the person who made the mistake.
It’s not a question of trust.
I also really don’t appreciate you questioning my motivation in participating in these games just because I disagree with you.
It was a rhetorical question - just to be clear. Like I said to Laimbeer, I would encourage you to look beyond any perception of personal attack. If it's not a question of trust, then just let them make the change. It's as easy as that. That's not asking a whole lot of additional consideration.
