Can't wait for the preseason game tomorrow

The drama surrounding Vic notwithstanding, I think the Pacers are in a good situation

I feel that replacing old Nate with new Nate is going to have a bigger impact than most people expect. I am optimistic that the team will perform much better under Bjorkgren, and I expect at least one or two Pacer players to have a surprise "breakout" season (although it won't be a surprise for us, because we know that they were poorly utilized by old Nate in the past)

I am even cautiously optimistic that Pacers will be among the top 3 in the standings

Let's go!

Looks a bit rough around the edges, but hopefully that's to be expected for the first game of a pre-season.

Third stringers gave up way too many points. Goga might have helped but ankle issue and Turner and Sabonis had played all the minutes they were allotted.

Martin was a bright spot. JHolla and Doug will benefit from the faster tempo.

Didn't know where to put this but what do y'all think about this trade:

F Kyle Kuzma and G Quinn Cook for C Goga Bitadze and PG Aaron Holiday

A big hell no? lol

I personally think Kuzma could help us, Cook and Oladipo are friends, and you're set it up so we'd lose some payroll. but we like Aaron and like having his brother happy. and a team needs three centers so Goga can't leave without a center coming back.

so maybe not a big hell no, but a thanks but no thanks.

Probably a big hell no. I’m not sure we wouldn’t value both Holiday and Goga individually over Kuzma. It could be a positional type swap if you take out one of Goga or Holiday (you certainly wouldn’t get both, try and target just one), but Kuzma is a weird fit for us. We seem comfortable playing Justin Holiday as the backup 4, and he’s a true 3 and D type guy there. If we want more creative offense at the 4, we’ll likely also play TJ Warren there at the 4, and he’s simply a better player than Kuzma and what everyone hopes Kuzma may develop into.

I’d swap you Lecque for Cook, in theory, but I’m betting we make a fiscal move with Lecque before Cook is tradable mid-season.

Also, I imagine Kuzma would hate being traded to Indy in his contract year. He’d be locked into the bench spot limiting his ability to showcase himself when he most needs to, and, he’s been open that he has no interest in living in an Indiana. He’s a rental, and either playing out on the QO next year, or forcing his way out via S&T. Really hard for us to trade the only 2 1st round contracts on our roster for a guy in that situation.

Drummond had his way with the second unit when Sabonis and the starters sat

Seems like all it takes is for an injury to Domas or Myles and Pacers become a seriously undersized squad

Normally this would represent a great opportunity for a young player like Goga to showcase himself, but he's also nursing his own injuries it seems

With only 3 bigs on the team, Pacers really could use a quality backup 4

KP should start looking for one in the trade market

Ideally, Pacers should send out some combination of Lamb (when he's back), Doug, or TJM for one quality backup PF

I wonder if Jazz has any interest in trading Favors for Lamb (when he's back) + TJM

I have been really impressed with the improvement Drummond has shown over the last year or so.

Yes. Justin gives it all he's got, but he just doesn't have the size.

Not a bad idea to explore. How do the salaries match, and does Utah have the roster space to do a two-for-one?

Utah would not have interest in that swap. They LOVE Favors and just made him their 1st priority in free agency and overpaid him to bring him back home.

In terms of targets, you could look for PJ Tucker if Houston moves Harden, though he’d take some decently solid value. Mike Scott out of Philly is a very low cost option, though he’s more of a wiry annoying type defender than straight up, strong, defender.

Other options might be Tristan Thompson (if Boston doesn’t “fit”), Thad Young, Javale McGee, Aminu or Bhirch from ORL, Kabengele, Looney, Ed Davis or James Johnson. All would differ in costs.

Yeah I wouldn't do that! Kuzma had a lot of value as a rookie but seems less valuable now. We love Holiday and think Goga is going to be pretty good.

I get that we have had a hole at backup big lately but I don't see the need for a 4th big. Realistically is there a big difference between Jakarr and whoever would be that center.

If our 3 young bigs can't cut it whether that be due to injuries or poor performance then we need to reevaluate. We should have enough for 95% of games at least.

I'd say the Pacers need a veteran backup PF. I don't see how they're gonna get one.

We don't have the money to do so but there's a few ok options relatively speaking (at minimum level prices).

Taj Gibson
Anthony Tolliver
Wilson Chandler
Ersan Ilyasova
Demarre Carrol

I believe all are unsigned right now. That said, I kinda prefer a few cheap young guys at the end of the bench right now over another vet. We're fine on veteran presences and leadership honestly. Might as well give ourselves more chances to possibly find a diamond in the rough.

Pacers earned edition jerseys. My reaction: meh. Like the blue City ones more.
