Last year, this team was a fake 7th seed due to the injuries. This year, the team doesn't look better than last year's. The defense is better but the spacing won't be there on offense due to the inconsistency of the three point shooters. THJ is the best three point shooter, but when he is cold he will shoot you out of the game. Everyone else isn't good enough to keep their man from sagging off. I can't see 4-6.

You basing that off of 1 preseason game?

I'm basing that on team construction, statistics and player tendencies. The team needs 3 players to shoot above 40% from three to keep the defense honest and they have only one.

They don’t NEED 3 players that shoot above 40% to be a winning team. That’s a luxury. They don’t need an offense like they had last year to be successful. Their defense will be better which should lead to more wins. Also based on the way he played in Miami and even in Philly as well as last night JRich will likely be a better playmaker than most think he will be. Also I bet at least 1 of these rookies surprises us all and has a very good season (my money is on Hinton).

Last season Dallas had the most efficient offense and yes we finished in 7th spot + playoffs but it was a first round exit. So, the problem is DEFENSE. But how can you improve in the defensive end when you have Powell as your starting Center. Lol.

John Hollinger predicts Mavs get 2nd seed.

Nonetheless, don’t overthink this. Even a year ago the Mavs had the league’s sixth-best point differential, and they made themselves substantially better in the offseason. I’m not sure if it should be a surprise, but I think the Mavs’ record will surprise people.

Prediction: 47-25, 2nd in Western Conference

I have us finishing 5th. Behind LAL, Den, LAC and Portland. Behind us I'm guessing Utah, Phoenix and Memphis. Hopefully we finish with around 48-50 wins. :)

2 seems high without a healthy KP from the getgo. I think 3 is best case scenario and 4/5 is a little more realistic

Yeah, I doubt 2nd seed happens. I think that goes to LAC or DEN.

With a 72 game season, I can see them winning somewhere around 45.

Replace Phoenix with LAL. It looks like we will be a couple games short of 45.
