Nice strawman. I've yet to see anyone say the Bucks can't trade for a star player. To the contrary it's you running around acting like it's so easy. In your world, they simply could've used this bundle of assets saved by acquiring Schroeder, Oladipo, or both instead of what was spent on Holiday, and parlayed that into the next unknown star to hit the market. Without regard to fit, the chance of being easily outbid, or the player's willingness to come here. It doesn't get more naive than that. And I'll continue to use that word because that's exactly what this is.

I told you I wasn't going to engage with you anymore. You're about to be literally the first person I've ever put on ignore on this site, which is actually mind-boggling considering how many heated arguments I've had. Just go away, talking to you is a complete waste of time. Stop quoting me.

With greater injury risk, not a good thing by any stretch of the imagination.

He can get "rest" during blowouts. And I'm not talking mid-40's or anything like that. 35-38 nightly. I don't want Bud to somehow rationalize that "because Giannis only played 30 minutes in the regular season he can only play a couple more in the playoffs." Thats ridiculous. Its go time.

Only 3 players averaged over 35 minutes last year, and none of them averaged 36.
I get why you think playing him more would be a good idea, but it's not. If you're really concerned about his endurance, you put him on a bike or elliptical for 20 minutes after you take him out of a game.

You can't win on this stuff. Play him 35 mins avg and he gets hurt or looks beat up come playoffs and fans will say how dumb they were to play him so much.

Probably the most logical route would be start the year doing similar to the past and the slowly ramp up a bit more before the playoffs. But again, if he then got hurt people would complain that you should've been resting him to get ready for the playoffs. Big pic, it's way overblown.

Another aspect to it rarely discussed is how hard Giannis plays. He goes balls to the wall pretty much whenever he's in the game. Guys that play way more mins like Harden or LBJ in the past found ways to coast when still in the game. Giannis would have to learn that skill.

Take your own damn advice, you misquoted me and mischaracterized my position every single step of the way and the idea of begging players to play in Milwaukee is the dumbest thing I've read on here in weeks.

I don't know man. It could be hard to live up to the standards of the statues we already have like Bud Selig and the Fonz.

I am so glad this guy is a legend and can continue to be my favorite athlete of all time by far, instead of being the reason I gave up on the NBA with a broken heart. Unbelievable person.

Sounds like Masai POBO and Horst GM is Giannis' wet dream front office. 8-)

I know we make fun of his FedEx background and everything, but the dude must have worked his ass off to go from that to being the GM of one of the few true title contenders in the NBA. It's insanely impressive regardless of the mess that our GM search turned into.

I agree, I make fun of Horst a lot, but guy has done some good things for sure. Can't take that away from him.

Not hard to understand why. Here are the two regimes he has known:

Regime 1
Kidd
Hammond
Vazquez
Thon
Payton II
Liggins
Monroe
Henson
Plumlee
Sanders
Mayo
Knight
MCW
Bayless
Khris (very good)
Giannis (great)
Brogdon (good)
Jabari
Vaughn
Dellavedova
Mirza
Snell
Topping out at 42 wins.
With multiple top 20 picks used or sacrificed (Vazquez, Thon, MCW trade instead of pick, Vaughn), including a #2 (Jabari).
Contracts of Monroe, Henson, Delly, Plumlee, Mirza, Sanders, Mayo. :o

Regime 2
Snell extension (very bad)
Bud
Horst
Bledsoe
DJW (bad)
DDV
Pat C
Hill
Ersan
Brook
Mirotic (didn't work out but was worth a shot for a few 2nd-rounders)
Korver
RoLo
Wes
Marvin
DJA
Portis
Two of the best seasons in franchise history in just 3 years.
With probably zero top-20 picks sacrificed until 2026 at the earliest and no access to any top-15 picks.
Contracts of Snell, Khris, RoLo, Brook, Hill, Bledsoe, Ersan, Pat C, Portis and of course Giannis.

Not all misses on the first list, nor all hits on the second list, but it takes a special kind of short memory to look at the big picture and think Horst is the problem here.

Not entirely true, especially factoring in injuries. But they shouldn't matter much through at least 2025.

I get it, but would you rather have Jrue and Giannis....or Bledsoe, Hill, and those middling picks if Giannis were to have left after the season. We don't really need draft picks for the next 5 years, just have to sign the right vets. The Lakers for four straight years picked 7, 2, 2, 2. How was that going before LeBron?

Yes, that's always worth remembering. But Giannis's concern is as follows: who's more likely to build a contender around me and Khris, the guys who spent like $300m on Monroe, Plumlee, Henson, Delly, Mirza, Mayo, and Sanders or the guys who literally spent less than that on Bledsoe, Brook, Hill, Ersan, RoLo, Wes, and DJA?
