But he had some stupid passes intercepted. He cant expected to hit those passes that cross the entire court...

What a slap to the face to the nets. KD looked dominated last night and Nets beat the Celtics in a blowout. They get page 55 recognition for that

Knew it! Everyone hates foul baiting but to have that skill right out of the gate is impressive. Especially for the refs to actually call them for a rookie.
Did you all notice how much talking to the refs he’s been doing?

He's probably used to being the biggest, fastest, most athletic guy in the gym
Now that he's in the NBA, he's facing guys who can match him physically every night, and he'll need to get his skills to the point where he can be effective, when he probably hasn't had to fully use them in quite a while.
It's honestly a little worrisome.
NodopeonSunday's thing about 6'7"-ish athletic guys good in college...I forget what the set of statistics he used, but I'm starting to wonder. Like another Williams the Knicks had for a minute: Derrick Williams
I dunno if Derrick Williams is a good comparison. Dude had very little skills apart from being a high flyer. He had no range since he never developed a 3 point shot (he could've been a stretch 4) and wasn't a smart player which is why he never turned into more than a role player. Problem was he never developed any skills and was drafted too high so that added a lot of pressure.
As bad as Obi has been playing, you can see he's overthinking some parts of the game. But he's shown that he can be a good passer and can hit a 3. Already better than Williams. He just needs to get more consistent and let the game come to him. I don't see him being worse than Derrick Williams. Might not be a star but a solid player if he can improve his defense.

his path to stardom, as far as i can tell, is improving his shot, handle & shot creation for himself. he's already a little good at creating for others but it's not the same for himself so far. that's sort of a lot.

Spacing is the name of the game in today’s league. Still would like to see how Quickley performance against better teams, but it doesn’t matter. Quickley can move the ball just fine, attacks and finishes w/ a floater and surprisingly gets to the line. And what’s key is he can actually hit a 3. Dating back to Rose, Knicks just seemed to be allergic to get a starting PG that can hit a 3. Having a PG that just refuses to even attempt a 3 can kill an offense.
Hopefully Bullock can regain his form from a couple seasons ago with Detroit. What I like about our team is we have a number of playmakers out on the floor at the same time, which can make Bullock’s life easier on the court. We all remember how important Novak turned out to be for us. I envision Bullock can replicate that if he’s up for that challenge. Just hit the open 3 when the ball swings to you. Same goes for Burks.
Back to the playmaking, I know many of you sh*t on Randle, and sometimes it is deserved, but the man has the potential in him to really be a factor with his playmaking ability. He was under control this game & we need to see more of that. I do have my doubts whether he can remain under control, but with the better spacing w/ IQ on the floor, he might be able to limit his turnovers.
Obi also has the playmaking ability in him as well. Obi just doesn’t seem to know where his shots are coming from right now & seems hesitant at times to throw up a shot, but I’d rather him keep moving the rock then selfishly look for his. I’d rather him learn to let the game come to him right now.
Knox has surprised me with his 3pt shooting last couple games. I was ready to write this kid off I won’t lie. Dude has been the definition of lights out. And man, I pray Mitch can continue to stop fouling at such a high rate. When he’s on the floor, his impact in noticeable. Saw a few times he didn’t actually go for the block and just contested the shot w/o jumping. Mitch will learn that the threat of him blocking the shot will alter the shot of his opponents more often than not. They know his out there, all he has to do is stay steady, contest it, grab the board and we’re off to the races. I still won’t start him though until he puts together a string of games off the bench w/o getting into foul trouble.
It is only preseason, so I don’t want to get my hopes up. Need to see consistency for it to be real. But it actually might be fun to watch this team this season if the kids actually grow and can prove they belong out there.

Payton isn't an NBA player. You can't be an NBA PG and shoot 20% from 3 unless you are elite in some other areas. He isn't. He's not suited to play NBA basketball. He needs to be cut and play for the Beijing ducks
