Who Is The Weakest Starter On This Team?

1.) Tell us who it is for opening night.
2.) Tell us who it is when KP is back and the Mavs are at full health.

Powell by a landslide. At least with how he is playing now.

Powell.
After KP returns. Assuming that he simply replaces Powell. Probably THJ. Just a bad team defender. Really hurts the team defense when one of the starters is constantly missing rotations or switches. Especially in the modern switch heavy NBA.

Powell hands down. He’s easily our worst big man and yet somehow he actually starts. Every player should be hiring whoever his agent is because he has somehow convinced this franchise to way overpay him AND play him 20 minutes a night

Remember when Wesley Matthews was decent prior to snapping his achilles? Powell is the same. Both players are just not the same post achilles injury. He should have a good game or two within the season. But there is no going back there. Sadly, the Mavs have to endure two more years of his contract after this year.

Yeah, Powell is the worst starter now, and I think he'll continue to start once KP comes back.
If Powell moves to the bench when KP comes back, then I guess it's THJ.
I want the Mavs to trade THJ for a LaVine type. That'd be dope.

What is a lavine type? Imo they are pretty equal in offense, while thj might not be the greatest defender he atleast tries and is decent, while lavine is down at trae young defense levels.

So u want a thj good offensive player and trade down to a cone on defense, Im bot sure who that is..

To me its more what thj will demand that decides if i want him to stay or not. Would ditch him right away for a jrich clone. Sadly jrich and thj were hhe only decent shooters last night.

And yeah, powell sucks so much atm. Would trade him for a bag of peanuts And I dont like peanuts, just to make it not possible for rick to play him. He looked gassed 5 min in last night, walking into offensive zone. Its far gone when rick benches powell...

A Mavs fan's biggest nightmare would be Powell starting with KP.
But also concerning is what Rick plans to do about the center backup situation when KP returns.
WCS is clearly the better player and we would be pretty solid at TRUE center if Powell is out of the picture.
Powell playing center (or any position for that matter) in any scenario screws up the entire chemistry imo.

Rotation imo should be:

Luka/Brunson/Terry
Burke/THJ/Iwundu
JRich/DFS/Green
Johnson/Maxi/Powell
KP/WCS/Boban

Powell is the worst starter of any potential playoff team. The Fo obsession with him is aggravating. So he's a good character guy? Who cares, in what business does an employee who has a high character but sucks at their job get overcompensated?

No way to Lavine, he's Kevin Martin JR. I wish we could trade Powell and THJ for Barnes, that would give us a good mix in the SL.

As it stands now, the rotation should be:

When we play teams with more of a wing at of instead of a big:

Luka/Brunson/Terry
Richardson/Burke/Green
THJ/Iwundu
DFS/Johnson
KP/Kleber/WCS

When they play true pf like Lakers or Pels

Luka/Brunson/Terry
Richardson/Burke/Green
THJ/DFS/Iwundu
Kleber/Johnson
KP/WCS

Are you sure you are watching enough of Sacramento if you are saying stuff like THJ and Powell for Barnes. I mean I hate being so blunt but this is 100% not a good move. Barnes is not playing well

If we're dumping Powell in the process, absolutely. Subtract Powell's salary from Barnes, and it's a fair deal. We also don't overpay THJ in this scenario.

He has to get what the market bears if some other team won't offer him anything then we need to keep it real and not overpay him. realistic and fair is what he deserves and he does not exert enough effort on defense to be worth overpaying

to me this is the year that Kleber needs to break out and performs better or else we need to make other plans with him as well. I want to see much better performances from him especially on defensive rebounding. I expect him to get to 7 RBG's.

Powell leaving means we made a bad trade when we did that deal with Boston so the MBT is holding him here longer than needed because of that goof they made.

Powell sucks, always did. Worst contract we have.
