Dec. 10, 1965 vs Det Wilt played 48 minutes and scored 40 points and grabbed 29 rebounds plus he had about 11 to 12 blocked shots as Det was held to only 42.7 percent from the floor for the entire game through the 76ers still lost 114 to 116

Dec. 11, 1965 vs Cin Wilt played 53 minutes this game and scored 38 points and grabbed 33 rebounds plus he also had 6 assists and 13 blocks as the 76ers won 135 to 132 in overtime the key to the win was Wilt's rim protection caused the royals to shoot 49 out of 109 from the floor.

Jan. 25, 1966 vs LAL Wilt played 48 minutes this game and scored 53 points and grabbed 31 rebounds plus he also had 17 blocks which caused the Lakers to shoot awfully from the field that game 37 out of 101 which is a percentage of 36.6

Jan. 28, 1966, vs Cin Wilt played 48 minutes this game and scored 43 points and grabbed 24 rebounds plus he also had 14 blocks as the 76ers crushed the royals 125 to 103 the key to this win was the royals being held to 38.1 percent from the field overall as a team.

Feb. 7, 1966 vs LAL Wilt played 47 minutes and scored 65 points and grabbed 29 rebounds plus he also had 16 blocks that game as the 76ers beat the Lakers 132 to 125 key to the win was once again Wilt dominating on both ends vs the Lakers they couldn't get anything past him that game which caused them to shoot overall as a team from the field 39.0.

Feb. 11, 1966 vs Cin Wilt played 46 minutes and scored 32 and grabbed 22 rebounds and also he had 7 assists to go along with his 20 blocks that game as once again the 76ers beat the royals this time through by 19 points 113 to 94 the royals were helpless throughout this entire game. As Wilt dominated utterly on the defensive end which ensured that the Royals would only shoot 29.9 percent from the field as a entire team.

Feb. 22, 1966 vs Det Wilt played 48 minutes and scored 32 points and grabbed 19 rebounds and he also had 10 assists to go along with his 12 blocks that game as the 76ers won a tight one 117 to 112 the key to the win was the 76ers holding Det to 40 percent overall shooting from the floor as a result of some great defence by Wilt at the rim which forced them to go outside and take jumpers.

Mar. 19, 1966 vs Cin Wilt played 48 minutes and scored 39 points and grabbed 28 rebounds to go along with his 12 assists and 10 blocked shots as the 76ers once again beat the royals in a tough game 127 to 121 in the second last game of the regular season for them.

Wilt this season seemed to feast on the Lakers and the Royals the most as he usually had his biggest games vs them those two teams seemed utterly incapable of stopping Wilt from dominating on both ends as they lacked a real center that could seriously bother Wilt or at least make him work a little bit on both ends.
Thank you very much again coastalmarker, I sincerely appreciate it. Excellent X-mas gift, or even gift period, regardless of time of year.

Its no problem man and also I hope you have a great X-mas
Thank you. Likewise.

[quote="mstat13shuh"][quote="coastalmarker99"][quote="mstat13shuh"]Good morning coastalmarker, how are you doing?

Here is my next sets of requests, and I will try to be as detailed & short as possible.

I understand perfectly this may seem like a huge simultaneous request at once,
but by all means, don't feel pressured to respond to all of it in one day, or even one week.

I'll accept one season per day if that's the best you can do.

Part 1
Wilt's block totals for the following regular seasons(if all are available in their entirety, if not, please inform me beforehand):

59-60
60-61
61-62
64-65(after being traded to 76ers)
65-66
66-67
67-68

Part 2

Wilt's 20 block games for the following seasons:

59-60
60-61
61-62
64-65(after being traded to 76ers)
65-66(except for Feb. '66 Cin game you just listed)
66-67
67-68

Part 3(if this is available)

All of Wilt's 10 steal games for the following seasons:

59-60
60-61
61-62
64-65(after being traded to 76ers)
65-66
66-67
67-68

Again I am TRULY blessed & appreciative for EVERYTHING that you've provided so far on this messageboard,
and I'm only inquiring about this & other related data because I've scoured every other available source
that I can think of up until this point.

I will also add that if much of this data is still in a notebook & not been computerized yet,
I would ABSOLUTELY be willing to assist you in this area, as I quite proficient in Microsoft Excel.

Should I give you my email, or should I simply request yours?

Thanks again & I hope you had a Very Merry Christmas!

Feb. 19, 1966 at SFW
Mar. 20, 1966 at Bal
Mar. 15, 1968 vs Bal

Thanks again.

Oct. 30, 1965, vs Cin Wilt, played 45 minutes and scored 39 points and grabbed 28 rebounds along with 10 assists plus he had about 15 blocked shot that game as the Royals were held to only 36.4 percent from the floor for the entire game as they eventually lost to the 76ers 134 to 114.

Nov. 16, 1965, vs STL Wilt, played 48 minutes and scored 30 points and grabbed 17 rebounds along plus he had about 13 blocked shots that game as the 76ers won a tight game 107 to 98 the key to the win was Wilt's and his teammate's defence holding STL to 37 per cent shooting from the floor for the entire game.

Nov. 27, 1965, at SFW an angry Wilt played 48 minutes against his old team in San Francisco and scored 38 points and grabbed 31 rebounds plus he had 21 blocked shots as the 76ers won a tight game 124 to 117. The key to this win was Wilt shutting down everything inside as he held his matchup in Nate to 4 out of 20 shooting from the floor plus the entire Warriors team to only 38.3 percent shooting for the entire game.

Dec. 26, 1965, vs SFW an angry Wilt once again played against his old team this time in Philadelphia and scored 33 points and grabbed 30 rebounds along with 8 assists plus he also had 20 blocked shots as the 76ers blew out the Warriors 121 to 107. The key to this win was once again Wilt locked down his matchup in Nate to 7 out of 22 shooting from the floor plus with his incredible inside defence preventing the Warriors from getting easy looks they were forced to shoot only 33.1 per cent from the field for the entire game.

Jan. 2, 1966, vs NYK Wilt played 48 minutes this game as he scored 50 points and grabbed 23 rebounds along with 6 assists plus he had 12 blocked shots that game as the 76ers won at home 133 to 122. The key to this win was the 76ers and Wilt smoking New york on the boards which allowed them to take 20 more shots than them that game plus they also held their offence to 43.3 per cent shooting from the field for the entire game.

Feb. 19, 1966, at SFW Wilt played 48 minutes this game on the road as he scored 30 points and grabbed 29 rebounds along with 5 assists plus he had 12 blocked shots that game as the 76ers won a really tight game 123 to 119. The Key to this road win was Wilt imposing his will on the boards and offensive boards as he with his domination on the boards outrebounded Nate 29 to 10 and Dave Gambee played the best offensive game of his life as he scored 24 points on 80 per cent shooting.

Mar. 20, 1966, at Bal Wilt played 48 minutes this game despite it being the last game of the regular season as he scored 24 points and grabbed 26 rebounds along with 10 blocked shots as the 76ers won a tight game 108 to 104 which helped them secure the home-court edge over the number 2 seed Celtics if they were to meet in the ECF that season.

Mar. 15, 1968 vs Bal Wilt played 48 minutes this game and scored 25 points and grabbed 21 rebounds along with 13 assists plus he had 25 blocked shots as the 76ers won a tight one 122 to 115 which means Wilt had another double triple-double in that exact same season.

The key to this home win was Wilt's incredible defence this game as despite Bullets shooting 30 more times then the 76ers they were forced into shooting 50 out of 135 from the field which is 37 percent for the entire game as a team.

For many, after this game, the 76ers seemed they were a lock to defend their title from the year prior with Wilt now being at his apex as a player as his playmaking had gone up another gear over the last 3 months of the season as the 76ers racked up win after win.

However, it was rather unfortunate for Wilt that he and his teammates suffered numerous injuries in the playoffs and after barely scraping by during a brutal 6 game series that with New York that cost them their legendary 6th man Billy Cunningham.

The 1968 76ers would only suffer more injuries as a team in the Ecf against the Celtics which proved to be fatal as despite having a 3 1 series lead the 76ers were running on fumes with 4 members of their starting 5 nursing, serious injuries to themselves and it was actually quite amazing that the Sixers only lost a game seven by four points despite all the injuries they had suffered as a team.

Clearly, had the Sixers been healthy in that post-season it would have been a repeat of the '67 EDF's, when they destroyed the Celtics, 4-1.
Reggie Jackson is amazing and a killer in the clutch that's all.

Thanks again coastalmarker99, much appreciated again as always.

In a strangely somber tone, I must admit that I noticeably overestimated on all the block totals you gave me here, except for 2:

The Jan. 2, 1966 game(I estimated myself he had 12 blocks.)
The Mar. 15, 1968 game(I thought he blocked close to 30 shots myself, based upon who took most of the shots, so I'm extremely thankful I was only like 3 or 4 blocks off for this game. I'm just amazed that none of the papers reported his block totals, particularly the 20 block ones, except of course for the Dec. 26, 1965 game.)

As an aside, for the Feb. 11, '66 Cincy game, I DID estimate he had around 2 dozen blocks there, so that listing wasn't really a shock to me like it might've been for someone else; nonetheless, I'm obviously blessed you still have a listing.

As an aside, coastalmarker99, do you recall Wilt and Bill Russell's highest offensive rebound games,
since, like blocked shots, offensive & defensive boards were not recorded by the NBA until Wilt retired?

coastalmarker99, not to be impatient or rude in any way,
but I was merely wondering if you could tell me when you'll be able to fulfill my latest request
(The 67-68 above games, not the other huge request that I posted; for as I understand perfectly the enormity of it.)

Thank you again, hope everything is still going well for you.

If you get a subscription to newspapers.com, you can actually look into old newspapers and read box scores and accounts of the game. if the project is as pressing as you make it seem, that's a way you can take matters into your own hands, rather than relying on others.

I've already done that for the most part. The person above I was contacting is someone with extremely difficult to find data who's already posted a number of Wilt's blocks for certain games I've previously inquired about. I should already know, because for most of these, and other games that I have yet to inquire about, didn't list Wilt's blocks in any of the papers, or if they did, it wasn't specific enough for me.

Alright here we go

Nov. 8, 1967, at San Diego Wilt played 44 minutes and scored 21 points and grabbed 24 rebounds along with 8 assists plus he had about 16 blocked shots that game as San Diego were held to only 38.0 shooting from the floor for the entire game as they were blown out by the 76ers 129 to 114.

Dec. 1, 1967, vs Seattle(at Boston) Wilt played 48 minutes and scored 52 points and grabbed 37 rebounds along with missing 22 free throws that game plus he had 17 blocked shots that game as Seattle was held to only 38.7 shooting from the floor for the entire game as they were blown out by the 76ers 133 to 109.

Dec. 16, 1967, at Chi. An angry Wilt played 48 minutes and scored 68 points and grabbed 34 rebounds along with 14 blocked shots that game after being called out for his lack of scoring by the media.

Dec. 20, 1967 at Sea. A still livid Wilt played 45 minutes and scored 53 points on 87 percent shooting and grabbed 38 rebounds along with 6 assists plus he also had 19 blocks that game as the 76ers once again blew out Seattle 160 to 122.

Feb. 4, 1968, vs San Fran. Wilt played 45 minutes and scored 19 points and grabbed 27 rebounds along with 16 assists plus he also had 13 blocked shots as the 76ers blew out the Warriors 141 to 117.

Feb. 14, 1968, at Sea. Wilt played 44 minutes and scored 35 points and grabbed 27 rebounds to go along with his 15 assists that night plus he also had 12 blocks as the 76ers once again beat the sonics 149 to 125.

Feb. 23, 1968, vs Det. Wilt played 48 minutes and scored 31 points and grabbed 32 rebounds to go along with his 12 assists that night plus he also had 11 blocks as the 76ers won 138 to 117.

Nov. 8, 1967 game: I was well off here. I thought he had over 20(My apologies to everyone I may have disappointed.)
Dec. 1, 1967 game: Close enough on this one. I estimated he had around 15 blocks.
Dec. 16, 1967 game: Pretty close here as well. I thought he had a few more.
Dec. 20, 1967 game: I actually underestimated here. I estimated him to have around 15.
Feb. 4 & 14, 1968 games: Forgive me for saying this, but I actually thought Wilt had near quadruple-double-doubles(based upon today's assist interpretation). Smh. Wrong. My heartfelt apologies forthcoming.
Feb. 23, 1968 game: Thankfully here, I wasn't too far off. I thought he had around 15 blocks.
Mar. 5, 1968 game: Only a few off here, thankfully.
Mar. 19, 1968 game: Awfully close here; I thought he had around 13 blocks.

Thank you so much again coastalmarker99, well appreciated from me as always.

Post#195 » by mstat13shuh » Mon Jan 18, 2021 1:14 pm

Ladies and gentlemen, this has now been officially confirmed:

We know now that The Big Dipper, Wilton Norman Chamberlain
By today's assist interpretation, recorded consecutive quadruple 16s
On consecutive days: March 5 & 6th, 1968:

March 5, 1968 vs San Diego: 31pts 21reb 19ast(by today's criteria)16blk
March 6, 1968 vs Cincinnati: 22pts 19reb 16ast(by today's criteria)17blk(Phi. Daily News)

While we're at it, let us not forget to thank coastalmarker99 for the gems he's dropping on us.
True, I am the one requesting the data, but in NO WAY is this data merely for me. This is for EVERYONE on this forum,
as well as those who have came upon this via related searches, such as myself, over a year ago.

Most, I believe, thought this data to be never recovered again, however, I was not one of them.

Good morning coastalmarker99, how have you been?

Not a rush or anything of that nature,
however I was wondering if you could please tell me when you'll be able to fulfill my latest request.

Thanks again.

Post#200 » by mstat13shuh » Sat Feb 27, 2021 6:40 am

This is a follow-up to what I posted on #132.

I just discovered this last night as I was winding down some research stuff:

Lima OH Citizen
Dec. 29, 1960

Thurmond "averaging close to 10 blocks per game, and Falcon fans who formerly kept a close check on the points scored by Jimmy Darrow, are now recording the blocks."

If you recall, in the Akron OH Beacon-Journal's Dec. 20, 1961 edition, it was quoted about Thurmond's "ability to block 8-9 shots per game."

The ironic thing here in the most recent discovery was that I wasn't even attempting to search for this.
I was searching for either Russ and/or Wilt's blocks vs Royals games.

Regarding Nate's sophomore season(60-61) I don't know for certain yet if he did finish that season averaging double figure blocks,
or even if so, how easy this data is to procure. I've never attempted yet to contact Bowling Green's PR Dept to locate additional data, and even if I did, I wouldn't know what they'd still have remaining after nearly 6 decades.

The point here I'm making is this:

We now know that Nate at least nearly averaged a triple-double in sophomore & junior seasons at Bowling Green.

But what many on here, and elsewhere for that matter, might not yet realize,
is that Nate probably averaged a triple-double in the following NBA seasons:(at least according to the data I've produced so far)

66-67
67-68(SF Chronicle article from this season about Nate's usual 8-10 blocks)
70-71(Phi. Daily News Jan. 5, 1971 piece which quoted Nate averaging about 10 blocks per game up until that point

If anybody here, or elsewhere, knows anything beyond what I've posted here, please feel free to share it.

Blessings....
