They play two very different styles of basketball.
They are certainly very different, but I love that pairing for them moving with. Both are very smart kids who occupy a lot of different parts of the court & can create for their team-mates with the ball in their hands. They'll be a problem as they figure this league out & Zion's shooting comes along.
I like the long-term potential as Zion and Ingram gives them the option of playing two different styles of basketball. It offers New Orleans versatility.
But Zion will need a PNR partner who can shoot off the dribble from 3 to reach his absolute ceiling (Lonzo is a different type of PG and not the kind Zion needs imo). Then you have a devastating PNR offense AND an elite isolation scorer. Zion and Ingram can play together, but Ingram will not elevate Zion was my point.

Meanwhile on the flip side, the Heat built a really good team with way less draft capital to work with than we have
Like, 2 late lotto picks, a 20th pick, and 2 UDFAs while we're here with 4 top 10 picks (one of whom was 3rd overall) and we still suck
I feel like Jeff Bridges in Iron Man. Pat Riley built this in a CAVE. With a box of SCRAPS.

BaF Lakers:

VJ Edgecombe/Jrue Holiday
Shaedon Sharpe/Cedric Coward
Kyle Filipowski/Collin Murray-Boyles
Alex Sarr/Clint Capela
Bench: Malcolm Brogdon/Hansen Yang/Rocco Zikarsky/RJ Luis Jr.

That I agree with. At some point they need to use their arsenal to trade for the right third star, or they'll never become real contenders, but they're in a good position to make that move if the right piece comes available.

You need pieces that fit. This wouldn't work for the Heat with the Hassan Whiteside, Dion Waiters type of guys so roster construction is crucial

Precious Achiuwa is gonna be another guy that the Heat stole in the draft

This Zion is still very good but I don’t think we’ll ever see Duke Zion ever again.

Look at all the talent on the Pelicans, their entire starting lineup is like top 2 picks and their bench a bunch of lotto picks.
They still suck and can't hang with the Heat

Watching Zion, I think weight is going to plague him throughout his career. His build is just wide and he seems like a guy who will have a hard time keeping the weight off

The Heat target the right archetypes.
Whether they pan out or not is a different question (they have for Miami), but they know how to identify talent and find players who will have a role in the NBA from day 1 because they can count on at least 1 skill to contribute, which also helps their development.
Their understanding of basketball is way above ours. The Knicks have drafted too many players who don't have a role in the modern NBA.

Re: Around the NBA - new season chatter
Ball and Bledsoe duo is gonna be building a brick skyscraper this season. I'm guessing they move one or the other at some point because the combination of the two, along with the lack of outside shooting from Zion and Stevens, is gonna cause tons of problems for spacing.

I should’ve traded Josh Jackson for Ingram in BAF when I had the chance
