Re: Come up with a Blake trade!
I feel bad for him. He's moving like a 40yo vet center. Even two seasons ago he still had a little bit of lift and explosion to finish inside.
I'd even take an extra year of contract if it was someone who could take a smaller role with the team and fit better with the young players.
If I was Blake I'd take a buyout and give whatever I have left to a contender. He's gonna be set for life with stuff like comedy outside of basketball anyway. Easy for me to say though.
Denver's maybe the only contender I can think of as a good fit. He could work backing up Jokic or even playing with.

We’re stuck with Blake
We need to hope Grant can keep putting up big numbers so we can trade him before the deadline.

I think a mid-season buyout/waive next year after the All-Star break is most likely. Sets him up to go to a contender without hurting books.

Haven't ran the numbers but
Rose & Griffin to Bulls future pick from Boston
Lauri Markenan + TPE from Boston to Detroit.
Porter Jr to Celtics.
We kind of get away with murder here lol

Re: Come up with a Blake trade!
The only semi realistic trade would be Blake for Wiggins, and honestly, at this point I would do it. I hate Wiggins, but he is a less terrible fit than Blake at this point. I would even eat Wiggins extra year to not have to watch Blake play for us anymore.
Plumlee / Stewart
Grant / Sekou
Wiggins / Bey
Jackson / Svi
Hayes / Rose
That's not great, but decent.

Keep Blake as the tank commander. Blake guarding Giannis as an example.
In 2 years that creates $40 million in cap space. So hopefully Killian turns it around at the end of the year after the Pistons secure the #1 pick after many, many close losses.
Then next year get another top 10 pick. In two years, that core will be able to sign anyone. Very similar to the Hawks this year. Had a few guys who were highly drafted that got better, added talent with cap space. Hopefully it works. Pistons are not in LA or NY, so young talent, plus a trade plus a signing needs to be a 2004 part two.

Re: Come up with a Blake trade!
Nobody is trading for Blake, it's just not happening.
I think they'll buy him out in the offseason unless he magically opts out, which he won't.
Next season will be the first true rebuild year where we see the youngsters take over the reins and hopefully one of those youngsters is one of the elite prospects in this draft.

Re: Come up with a Blake trade!
The only one I could see is Wiggins, and GS would only do that for more long term salary help and this season would need to be toast. Maybe at the trade deadline. I do agree with the sentiment that Wiggins fits much better for us than Blake, and he can play some of the two.
Truth is that Blake is an awesome bench player at this point, and we're all feeling the SVG pain in more ways than one. The most likely best case scenario for Pistons as an organization is a career ending injury for Blake. And well, that sucks.

Re: Come up with a Blake trade!
The disabled player exception may be the only way Blake isn't fully on our payroll these two seasons. Unless he's still shaking off rust or is being overly careful, he won't have value to anybody going forward.
I suspect he knows he's one injury away from retirement and that playing aggressively as he has in the past ensures that injury.

Was reading a rumor with the Bulls. Rumor was:
Blake
Rose
For
Otto Porter
L. Markinnen (spelling?)

I have no idea why Chicago would do that. But only takes one dumb and desperate GM

Re: Come up with a Blake trade!
The best deal that I could figure out is the following:
Detroit Gets:
Caris Lavert
Taurean Prince
Spencer Dinwiddle
Nicolas Craxton
Lotto Protected First Round Pick
Brooklyn Gets:
Blake Griffin
Dorell Wright
Jahil Okafor
Wayne Ellington
Detroit basically takes on salary to get another pick. Levers at age 26 has a chance to be the current 2 guard to pair with Grant at this point. Taking on Prince’s contract is hard but he’s needed for salary. Pistons also take a flier on Claxton as a younger big. Spencer basically is an opt out/expiring (probably will turn down player option). Maybe buy out if he is willing to turn down his option now?
G Hayes/Rose
G LaVert/SVI/McGruder
F Bey/Jackson/Servidis
F Grant/Seku/Prince
C Plumlee/Stewart/Claxton

Chicago would be very very dumb to do that. Unless we're dumping picks to them in that case, no.

Blake and Rose make much more total.
Porter is expiring, Markkanen has a QO for next year, no contract was reached.
Maybe the Bulls dont want either? I thought Markkanen had Sabonis potential. Guess not?

I don't think that's cap-legal, but it's a moot point: that would be a terrible trade for the Bulls.

Porter and Young makes more sense cap-wise

Re: Come up with a Blake trade!
Yeah, I hadn’t even looked at the financial side of the deal - merely passing on a rumor I heard.
I’m confident that if they were gonna take on Blake/Rose, we’d gladly take on Porter and whatever else they’d throw in to make the deal work cap-wise.
But I still maintain we’re stuck with Blake and should be exploring deals for Grant before the deadline.
Either way, Sekou is our long-term PF

There is no point in trading Grant. We will get a worse value return for him than his value. I don’t see a first round pick or a young asset in return. Makes no sense to deal him now.
