OT: Storming of the Capitol/Coup Attempt

Post#1 » by TheSuzerain » Wed Jan 6, 2021 9:14 pm

Not one to bring OT/politics stuff to the Bulls Board typically, but I feel like what's going on has reached the point that it warrants a thread.

This is absolutely insane. History in motion. A dark day of history at that.

This is an act of terrorism on US soil. There is no reason anyone that participated in this (man or woman) should not see the same persecution as the US would treat global terrorists they've captured.

Hopefully Biden and Congress do just that.

What a terrible time for the police to lose all of the keys to that military gear they had in the summer. Tear gas is empty too. Just awful timing.

I mean, who could have expected this (except for absolutely everyone on this planet, obviously)?

I expect this thread to end very badly. But against my better judgement, I will keep it open -- for now.

You might be right, but I feel like you've got to keep this open. This isn't at all frivolous.

I'm at the point where they should just break off and form their own country where they're free to live in their fantasy land where facts and reality don't matter.

There's video of Capitol cops taking selfies with the rioters inside the building.

You gotta wonder if someone opened the doors to these people.

Trending on twitter are images of antifa plants being identified with what they are wearing and Trump hats turned backwards.

What a mockery of our democracy.

The most terrible thing is it shows how vulnerable we are. No way terrorist orgs aren't taking notice of this.

Yeah you've got to think the Capitol police force is going to be purged because of this.

Oh, yes, of course. All the calm peaceful protesters are Trump supporters, but the violent trouble makers are "ANTIFA plants" risking serious jail time all to make Trump and his supporters look bad, as if they needed any help at all with that.

Most of the BLM protest where peaceful people as well and most were non Trump supporters. Then there was the Antifa group who burned down Targets and such. They take any opportunity they can and turn it into mayhem. That is there only goal. I assume you probably hate Trump and the people who support him way to much to even comprehend any of that though. Carry on hating anyone who disagrees with you. It's exactly what they want.

My work has Fox News on the TV and they genuinely stated that this wasn't as bad as the BLM protests because there is no looting/vandalism.

As if you can even compare the grievances of either protest.

This is why I mega loathe politics to the core of my soul. One side if trying to force socialism, the other side fascism.

Trump used to be nothing more than a comic book villain but after learning he urged this, whatever it is, I am now on the "arrest his ass" bandwagon.

I don't like Biden and I don't like what he represents, but he'll be gone in 4 years but at least there is no chance he'll become a supervillain.

I think one of the more revealing things for me in the past year is how appalled people were at the looting of a Target.

That was like a 9 on the scale of freaking out people from the suburbs. Remains to be seen what this is, but I wouldn't be surprised if it scores something less than a 9 which is sad.

My favorite thing I've seen so far is the one where the "rioters and looters" are walking in a single file line between the ropes. It was so funny. I feel like looters/rioters/whatever wouldn't be so nice as to make sure they stay within the ropes they have in the middle of a room that are protecting the statues in the room. Just found it pretty comical.

I don't hate anyone, but carry on believing ANTIFA is an actual organization rather than a mindset of simply being anti-facist. What you're describing is The Proud Boys. You know, the group with actual leaders and members? Their leader was arrested last night. Ring any bells?

You didn't see the video of people breaking interior and exterior windows? The building was locked down. How do you think they got it?

Nah, they don't need military gear to do policing.
