He really is. And already plays with poise like a vet. That 7:1 A/TO is ridiculous and he's super-efficient shooting the ball. I expect he won't be able to maintain those numbers over the whole season of course but still, IMO he's easily the steal of the draft at #12, although you could make a case for a few other guys like Pritchard, Bane, Quickley, and Bey too.

Re: 2020 Rookie Tracker
we should've pulled the trigger on a Wiseman/Wiggins for Haliburton/Barnes trade when we could've, but hey, what do I know.

Re: 2020 Rookie Tracker
There were reports that we were looking to trade down and grab him I thought. I guess we’ll never know what other teams wanted in a trade down. Not a huge miss since many others passed on him too.

Wiggins for Barnes is a wash and Wiseman still is a great prospect with a better fit for our roster.clyde21 wrote:we should've pulled the trigger on a Wiseman/Wiggins for Haliburton/Barnes trade when we could've, but hey, what do I know.
I'm not sure I'd do it.

Re: 2020 Rookie Tracker
I know I'll get crucified for saying it, but I probably would have traded the 2021 Minny pick for him, and still would now. The reasons are that 1) as bad as the Wolves are currently, the chances of us getting a very high pick still really aren't all that great (in 21 or 22), 2) the chances of us picking a player better than him aren't great because every draft is a crapshoot and we already know Haliburton can play in the NBA, and 3) we could develop him a year or 2 years earlier than another player, giving us a better chance to win a chip before our big 3 age out.
Could the Wolves be really bad and we end up with the #4 pick in 2021 or the #1 pick in 2022 and then proceed to pick the best player in the draft? Sure, it could happen, but that's a lot of things that would have to go right for us. Haliburton would be a perfect guy to both back up Steph, or play alongside him, or Klay. He could at various times replace Steph, Klay, Oubre, Poole, Lee, Bazemore, and Wannamaker. No offense against those guys but Haliburton already has a lot fewer question marks than they do outside Steph & Klay.

we'd be trading down 10 picks and taking the worse player just to save 10 million in salary a year

who said anything about saving money? we'd be taking the better player who's a better fit for this team, for this offense and today's NBA.

Re: 2020 Rookie Tracker
Barnes is brutal
It's blown me away watching the Kings this year (I just moved to Sac) that HB still has the same mechanical moves and terrible touch around the basket that he had 5 years ago. He hasn't really improved at all since we let him go.

No, seriously. He's horrible. I think I remember you saying you wanted to trade Paschall for him straight up. Is that right?

How are you repeating? I asked a new question.
So yeah, I just find it funny how you wanted to trade Paschall for Bol Bol. And now you want to trade Wiseman/Wiggins for Haliburton/Barnes. Let's revisit this topic later this season. Especially regarding Bol Bol.

Wiseman dropping like a rock. Pritchard, Quickley, S. Bey, and Nwora keep jetting towards the top (warning: according to Win Shares). Looking to me like this was a very deep draft after all.

Re: 2020 Rookie Tracker
I suppose you could compare Wiseman to Jahlil Okafor during his rookie year...Except that Okafor's numbers were better. Hopefully, he gets better.
