PG Utah: No Defense, No Bench, No Victory

Post#1 » by MickeyDavis » Sat Jan 9, 2021 3:17 am

Ugly ass game. Wilson sucks but Thanasis sucks too, we need an upgrade there. DJA is terrible. Forbes terrible. I’ve liked what Portis has done this season but tonight...terrible. Probably good we play again tomorrow night, hopefully get the stink out of the FF.

If I win Megamillions tonight or Powerball tomorrow night I’m sending cash to the Bucks to paint over Gruber Law on the court.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

This team kind of sucks. If Giannis misses any sort or extended time we are done.

When a team hits 25 threes, you have to perfect everywhere else to have a chance. It's obnoxious, but this **** happens every night in the modern NBA. There are plenty of things to be concerned about - the bench being pretty high on the list. If you want more diversity in the defense, sure, I'm with you. We need to have switching in our pocket. But this is not the game to be blowing your gasket about the drop scheme.

Yea the Jazz shot extremely well but I can't recall too many times a team has just completely worked over our weaknesses like that.
We were made to look like a poorly coached, really dumb basketball team.

Small guards absolutely kill our defensive scheme.

We're destined to lose to well coached teams: no offensive sets, a decade out of date defensive scheme and no willingness to change it, a star player who demands to be a primary creator but who can't consistently make a basic read, a junk bench. Woof.

Guy who does it throws out his back and hires Gruber as a personal injury lawyer who sues you for paying to have it removed.

Bucks suck, they’re worse than last year, we have no hope! Damn people.

There are seven new guys on this team they have to figure out how to gel. Give it some time. The sky isn’t falling.

Some good things:
Giannis early
Mids and Jrue in the third on offense.
Bad:
Defense. Honestly (**** you Kidd) there was no effort
Brook 12 3's - why?
Bench. They were poo.

Hopefully Craig helps a bit on D. Bud needs to show something there. Interesting to watch them try and keep Gobert away from Giannis to have him help D in the third. All this talk about D, if we hit shots at the start of the last and got a couple of stops this could've been different.

Work to do.

I'm pretty reactionary after Bucks losses but pretty surprised at some reactions after this game. Bucks were not focused on defense and were easily screened to create open threes. Bucks cut it to three at 84-87 and a timeout is called. Bud takes Jrue out + Giannis in. Next possession Giannis falls asleep on a Bojan three and then proceeds to take an early pull up three; Jazz end up creating an 11 point lead and game isn't close again.

And the bench sucked, no rhythm all night.

no switching on defense.
no bigs flashing high on defense.
no trap after a screen
nothing to change things up.
keep doing **** drop big defense and we will win nothing.
and, wer not noticing the over help from the wings when someone drives, leaving wide open 3s, cause that drop defense gets all the spotlight.
...if G and/or Brook is defending in the lane do NOT go help them, theyr fine.

Bud's defense is like playing with fire and when Bud gets burned from good coaches/shooting teams he refuses to step out of it for 3 years in a row.

A far worse bench makes things even harder and it doesn't hide the problem like our last regular season anymore.

You can see it on our oppenents faces. They were told how to expose us from their coach, it's obviously working and they are pretty confident taking good shots the entire game.

I'm just glad Bud has learned that giving up wide open 3's is not a strategy that wins in 2021.

I mean, he's certainly learned that lesson tonight, right? How could he not? This will never happen again under Bud. When I think adjustments, I think Bud.
