We are not even a month in. People thought the Sixers game should have been postponed rather than them play with 7 guys. This will become more frequent.

Seems like every day the wiretap has some new Covid related news. Latest is:

Maxi Kleber Out 10-14 Days Due To COVID-19 Protocols, Mavs Shut Down Practice Facility

Not even close to how bad it looked for the MLB, plus back then testing was not at the level than it is now. Consider those 'miss-games' like missing games for a sprain ankle or the flu.
Players are now just forced to increase their awareness.

Who cares about baseball? Their rosters are much bigger.

NBA teams are playing with 7 and 8 players, Sixers and now Celts. It is the first month. It was pretty rare to see that for just injuries pre-Covid, now it may become a regular thing.

I noticed Lamar Jackson ran straight off the field after his win today, no shaking hands with any Titans. Likely inspired from the Tatum-Beal scenario. He did come back out the tunnel for a TV interview but stayed distant from others around him, plus a mask.
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

I think there should be a separate General Discussion thread for covid issues only, as the season progresses.

By not postponing the Sixers the other night with only 7 players, they set a precedent which may become a problem. Maybe they will postpone Laker games if Lebron comes into contact.

I think there is a decent chance the league is going to have to pause. The situation in the US is worsening. Florida new cases now exceeding 20,000.

The league will do anything it can to make sure the season doesn’t get halted. There’s a lot of money at stake here. It would be the right thing to do though

Realistically though they should shorten the season more. Maybe to like 42 games and then head back to bubble for playoffs or something. 72 games is a lot of opportunities for things to go wrong

This is the reality of the current NBA season. The more I think about it, the more reason there is to tank this year. We are in desperate need of talent. There are only so many undrafted and second round gems that you can get.
If we do tank we can come into next offseason with:
1. a top 10 pick
2. a high second round pick
3. max contract space
4. playing in Toronto.
I trust in our scouting staff and Masai and Webster to make good picks and develop the young staff we have.

If not "tanking" (the word has different meanings around the board), then at least I think it's pretty obvious we won't make any big "win-now" moves to make a run this season. For example, giving up draft picks for someone like Vucavic would be an even worse move than in a normal season.

Not to mention, our biggest issue right now is depth, and we haven't had any games missed due to COVID yet.

Also, it's not unrealistic that this 72 game season becomes a 52 game season.

2-7 Wizards lead the 7-3 Suns, 45-25 midway through the 2nd quarter.

I hope they do another bubble for the playoffs if there are still no fans by then.

I'm not so sure about the playing in Toronto part. Canadians won't even have all been vaccinated by next fall.

we dont have our 2nd this year, det has it, we traded it to bkn during the championship season trade deadline during all the Gasol trade, rebalancing roster moves we made.

Also, I don't think we will have max cap space (pretty close to it) because of our potential high pick

If the league does end up going into a pause for 14 days or however long it might be, it’s possible they also cut down the season from 72 to a bit less like 62 or even 52. That would bode well for the tank since the sample size we have right now would be a greater percentage of the season

plus boucher has played himself into a position where you have to pick up option.
that being said i am still not sure we will have a top pick, we are 2.5 games behind a playoff spot, 62 games to go. barring a major injury i still believe we will be top 10 if not higher in the east.
remember its playin tournament this season.

This Rockets team looks terrible. No chemistry there whatsoever.
