Cain is the wild card. I think the thought when he was signed was you'd hoped for 2 elite years, 1 or 2 OK, 1 or 2 washed years...well we got 1 super elite year, 1 "was he hurt all year?" year, and 1 COVID opt-out year so far. He should be starting to fade but hopefully he has one last great year in him.

The packages for Darvish and Snell have me questioning what Yelich would fetch even if we decided to trade him. I also wonder how much he would have signed for this offseason if he didn't sign right before the pandemic hit.

He wasn't great last year, but I think he would have been better over a full season - and I still think he'll be great going forward. I wouldn't shop him.

I'd also wait on Hader - probably closer to a mid-season move where you'll have more desperate suitors and hopefully a revived economic outlook in a post-COVID era that makes teams feel more bullish about going all-in.

I have to believe Hader is worth a young stud 3b. If so, I am good making that move now. Would be great to steady that position for like 10 years.

I’m also in favor or trading Hader and using the savings to upgrade the corner IF. I have my sights set on Tommy La Stella who can play 1B, 2B and 3B as should be affordable ($7-9MM per over 2-3 years). Add in another young corner IF via the Hader trade and we should be set for the foreseeable future.

Who's giving up a young stud 3B for 3 years of a relief pitcher that's becoming expensive?

Young stud relief pitcher with 3 years of control.

And my answer to your question, I have no idea because I no longer follow the minors at all. What teams are said to be in the market for a closer type?

I think win now teams like the Padres, White Sox, Blue Jays, Twins, Mets, Phillies and Dodgers all could look to bolster their respective bullpens since they are all clearly making aggressive moves to improve.

Of these teams the Mets, Twins and Dodgers seem to have the most intriguing players who could be sent back. Mets have Dominic Smith, J.D. Davis, Jeff McNeil and Brett Baty, Twins have Alex Kirilloff and the Dodgers have guys like Edwin Rios and Kody Hoese. Although I think the resigning of Blake Treinen makes a trade for Hader less likely.

Honestly the Mets seem like the perfect fit with MLB proven players and a new owner who is willing to spend to win now. Something along the lines of Smith and Baty for Hader and Jacob Nottingham works for both teams. We can then use the extra payroll to sign a stopgap 3B like Justin Turner (2yrs/$24MM).

Cain, Yelich, Hiura, Smith, Turner, Garcia, Narvaez/Pina, Arcia/Urias is a solid lineup.

I enjoyed this tweet and some of the replies. Stearns is a good GM and the Brewers are generally hollowing out their organizational depth to keep trying to win now, but he does love these sort of guys.

The NL Central is the NFC East of MLB.

Absolutely nothing to be excited about this off season.

This kind of offseason is generally why I prefer basketball and football over baseball. The lack of a salary cap means certain teams can spend all the money they want, while others are often left behind. It gets really boring and frustrating seeing the same 4-5 teams in on every major free agent.

But those post season runs are so much more fun than other sports as a result. The Packers lose, the Bucks lose, it's crippling disappointment. Meanwhile, the Brewers getting one game away from the WS, and a brief moment in that game where we led? Remains a great memory even if we fell short.
