What he's wanted to do?

Seems he's been wanting to play 3 point line to 3 point line up until today

I was pleased with what I saw tonight. Grant’s hustle has really surprised me. I still wish Grant was at the 4 because Blake is stealing minutes from rookies on the wings. I guess that the best for Blake is to play well. Build some trade value or maybe he goes crazy by opting out at year end.

No need to force a trwde when he will be an asset to trade next year. The real trade question is what can we get for Rose, because we definitely don't have the space to bring him back. Blake is the perfect driver for this tank to the #1 overall pick this year.

A mediocre player paid $39 million won't be an asset of any kind.

As for Rose, the answer is "not much." He's at his most valuable on a bad team.

Honestly, I think the most likely scenarios are Blake gets traded for a couple expiring contracts or we work out a buyout at the end of the season. Sure, I'd love him to turn things around and get an asset or two but that's wishful thinking. I could see something similiar to the Drummond trade where we get a second rounder back.

Looking at the guys expiring this summer, there aren't a lot of good options even if Blake's contract was done this year. It would be trying to find diamonds in the rough, maybe signing 2 year deals.

Best thing to do and let Blake man the tank. If he somehow becomes Jokic-lite with passing/freethrows/post up game and finds his legs later in the season, maybe Blake can get some 2nd round picks.

Even if Blake were an expiring this season, I dont think he would get much though. $36-39 million is so much, most teams dont have that kind of dead weight except for the Pistons.

Wayne Ellington

Detroit basically takes on salary to get another pick. Levers at age 26 has a chance to be the current 2 guard to pair with Grant at this point. Taking on Prince’s contract is hard but he’s needed for salary. Pistons also take a flier on Claxton as a younger big. Spencer basically is an opt out/expiring (probably will turn down player option). Maybe buy out if he is willing to turn down his option now?

G Hayes/Rose
G LaVert/SVI/McGruder
F Bey/Jackson/Servidis
F Grant/Seku/Prince
C Plumlee/Stewart/Claxton

I don’t think there’s any way on earth Nets are trading LaVert and a pick for Blake, considering those are the two best assets in the trade. But.............

...... assuming Blake plays decently, and the Nets are convinced that he can give them outside shooting, backup center play, and flopping......

Pistons trade:

Blake Griffin

Nets trade:

Prince
Dinwiddie
Exemption(s)
First round pick

Prince would sit the bench for most of it, and next year he is an expiring. Dinwiddie won’t play, and may or may not opt out next year. If not, he can probably help, or he’s an expiring. Nets have something between MLE or DPE to offer - the Pistons could choose which player to sign to a one year deal.

Two big questions for this deal - will Blake look better? And will the Nets find a cheaper option? The Nets have deep pockets, so they may like the bigger salary for trading purposes next year.

Something like this probably doesn’t happen until the deadline, as Blake needs to prove that he’s durable, and the Nets need to explore other (better options)......

Trade blake for other scrub expiring and picks in 2022 at the deadline to be able to offer one max contract and keep Josh Jackson.

No one worth a Max contract is coming to Detroit. We need to find a legit two guard right now. We don’t have one in my eyes. I fee Bey is more of a three.

Do you believe for 1 micro second that Pat Riley and the Miami Heat would do this?

Only if they still think Blake has something left in the tank.

Plumlee > Olynyk

And Dragic isn’t what he used to be.

Regardless of what you think of this deal, I think the Heat are a prime team to target via trade. They have a good amount of expirings and are in win-now mode.

They may not want Blake. But we could unload other guys there....

I question if you can get useless expirings for Blake. Expecting any kind of asset is crazy. He's a big negative.

I could see them wanting Blake at the deadline potentially. He needs to continue to show that the injury is behind him. I’m concerned about the amount of 3’s being taken but he can be dealt. My goal is still improved enough play that he pulls a Hayward on us. If he gets traded, Miami makes the most sense.

I can't see anyone taking on Blake and his contract until next season. I'm not even sure he can stay healthy until next season.

Blake really now is the last vestige of the previous win-now effort.

Tough to see him moved though.
