Just throwing it out there but I think Garrett Temple could be a low key good move to acquire him from Chicago for the Kanter TPE

I said it several times, we can compete for a championship RIHGT NOW. My top 3 guys are:

Tucker
Hill
Barnes/Vucevic

I'd actually ship out Thompson for any of the 3, would not mind trading a 1st or 2 and grant/carsen/nesmith.
Good assessment:

Smart has been shooting more because we’ve had key injuries.

Again it’s worth mentioning in my opinion. Ainge has until Monday to acquire a player that can be traded with others before the March 25th trade deadline.

Will be interesting to see if Ainge makes a move. Could grab someone with Kanter’s $5.0 million TPE and then combine that player with others for a bigger trade at the trade deadline.

Something to be on the lookout for this weekend

Nice to see that Kanter's having a good year so far. Happy for him

KAT doesnt play defense, is injury prone and is NYK bound.

Yah, if were not trading JB for Harden were just not trading JB and its time for all to accept that.

Jokes aside tho, Fourier is kinda underrated and a perfect 4th fiddle on our offense. He can pass, shoot and create. He's Gordon Haywrad lite.

I like Fournier but only as an addition to our current roster using the TPE and some filler. No way would I move Smart for him.

Anyway, I'm not getting all of the Smart hate right now. Basically, the C's fall apart in the 4th Quarter of the last game mostly because Jaylen and Kemba go ice cold, now everyone wants to trade Smart?

If Jaylen plays every game this season I think he will still have played fewer games than KAT did his first 5 seasons in the league. So much for injury prone.
Jaylen is one of the worst defenders on the team and can't pass. He is exactly the kind of overrated asset the team should flip.

Hint: who was his coach at that time and whats the reputation for what happens to players after a few years with him

If Ainge used the Kanter TPE on say Garrett Temple over the next few days then at the trade deadline Ainge could package Theis, Langford, Temple, G Williams with first round pick(s) and bring back a player making about $20 million.

Ainge could do this without touching the $28.5 million TPE

An expiring Gasol 2 years back netted contract filler and a few 2s— Theis aint getting a 1.

KAT averaged 34 mpg for his career, which is 2 mpg more than Tatum or Giannis. Less than Beal, Anthony Davis.

Jaylen has the 4th highest assist percentage on the team behind Kemba (small smaple size) tremont (even smaller sample size) and Smart.

Jaylen has not only the highest offensive win share, and the highest defensive win share he has the highest DBPM of all wings on the team (not named Teague or Green)

Elite in terms of team defense, but just average on-ball defender. And he's bound for 20 mill payday which is too much for a guy whose primary attribute is hustle and heart. I believe there are some here who wouldn't trade him unless it's in a package for a superstar. Well I'd trade him for a better/well-rounded offensive player (guys like Oladipo, Barnes, Malik Beasley, Fournier) if the opportunity presents.

Smart has been as good a playmaker as anyone else on our roster since he got here, though.

It's a huge whiff to miss that, and IMO a huge tell that anyone saying that doesn't grasp basketball that well. Dude is a major asset in the role he is paid to perform in, which is why Brad loves him and Ainge shoots down any and all trades for him.

Oladipo? We could get him for the TPE.

Barnes, Beasley, or Fournier? Good lord, lol.

It's insane, he's over 3:1 assist to turnover ratio as a starting ball handler which is him once again being a human swiss army knife for the team and people somehow watch the games and think he isn't a good offensive player because he doesn't score at a high percentage. The truth is pretty much the only hole in his game is inefficient scoring, particularly inside the 3pt line, and most of the time it's a non issue.

Clearly there are a lot of "fans" on here that don't actually watch the games. Guys who watch a few Celtics games a year, look at Smarts stats and think, "well that doesn't look good" and then just post nonsense they've heard other people post. Things like Smart isn't a team player or he isn't coachable.

The last few pages of this thread restored my faith in this forum a bit though. Nice to see so many people get how good Smart is. Kind of lost faith in y'all when we didn't get Miles Turner and ya wanted Ainges head for it.

Smart is awesome.

He is a DPOY candidate, he is, outside of maybe PP, the best playmaker on the floor for the team.

Smart's deficiencies on offense, such as bad decision making, can and will be lessened IF Boston can add/fix their bench by adding a scorer/shooter.

While I believe Smart will always pull a WTF shot per game, overall more shooters/scorers the less Smart will feel the need to turn into Klay Thompson.
2 things need to go.. my lack of spell check and Joe..
