Obviously I'm biased towards Jokic, having watched every minute he has played this year. My only worry is the record, but they are getting back on track and should hopefully finish in the top five out west. Still may not be enough to get it, especially if Philly or the Lakers continue where they are.

If the Sixers have a top two or three seed out East with the Bucks, Nets, Celtics, etc. you have to give it to Embiid. Will sitting a game here or there cost him? Jokic plays every single night.

I know Durant is on a "super team" again, but man, he's so good. Definitely in the discussion.

I have them all occupying the top three spots so far lol. Doncic is at 4 for me but would probably rank higher but his team is very bad. Any of those winning would be well deserved. Embiid might miss too many games, but yeah love Jokic best offensive player on the game. Hard to split the three they all had massive games the last couple of days. (Embiid has been on a tear the last three games).

1. Embiid/Jokic (hard to split)
3. Durant
4. Doncic/James

Just the fact that Luka has those Mavs at .500 right now, deserves a honorable MVP recognition lol

Luka doesn't deserve the MVP having in his side an all star like KP who is always there to help him.....oh wait

Luke’s losing as many games for them as he is winning. Clearly has no business taking so many 3 pointers and like Embiid, he gets the friendly whistle and his team is .500.

In saying that, Embiid has been a monster. Nobody can guard him and the only person that stops him winning it is....well himself

If Embiid can take the Sixers to W's against the real top teams, he is a real candidate.

But that remains to be seen

What are you talking about? Since Jan 8th, Mavs are playing with Gleague players and rookies. They are still 4-4 since then. Friendly whistle? Luka is i believe still nr1 at drives to the basket per game and he's averaging 7.6 FTA. Does that sound a lot?

Also does it really look like you have a good argument about his team?

Jokic. What a find, and such a unique player.

I mean, it's as clear as night and day. Denver lost many close games in the beginning of the season, which they are now winning, they just got Porter jr. back and Murray is sporadicly showing flashes of looking like an actual NBA player again. It's might be a matter of time before Denver will be and top 3 seed in the west again.

Joker is hands down not only the MVP but possibly the best player in the league right now.

Embiid is likely the favorite right now. Team record is comparable to the Lakers and statistically he has been better then both Lebron and AD. Jokic and KD have stupid numbers, but the team record is not there yet.

PG is a meme right not, but he has been balling lately. 68% TS is absurd.

As much as Embiid is my favorite player. He’s got to play around 70% of his games to be MVP. He’s playing at MVP level. I don’t think he’s the best player.

Lebron James has been the the best player in the NBA since 2008/2009.

Best player and MVP are not necessarily the same.

Team performance and MVP fatigue are factors as well as we all know.

If Denver gets into the top 2 seed slots. Jokic is right up there with Embiid. So team performance will decide MVP.

But it would be funny to see Embiid or Jokic as MVP and potentially the MVP could be 3rd team all NBA center. Cause of media love affair with Anthony Davis as a “center”.

Anyone putting Jokic over KD is delusional. Statistically its not close and no need to even bring up defense.

If we take record into account then its Embiid, with KD catching up if the Nets can get to a top seed.

I also remain convinced LeBron is still probably the favorite when its all said and done.

KD's played pretty amazing, but he's missed 5 games out of 18. Thats pretty disqualifying itself if it continues. And Jokic has better stats and a similar record. I have no idea why Jokic would be over KD at all

You are absolutely right here, it isn't close statistically, because Jokic is leading the entire league in almost every advanced stat.

With Embiid's recent push over his last two games, I still have Jokic in front, but Embiid's right behind him. Then Kawhi - who, for some reason, is being overlooked - in a very close third. Conley, I have tied with Kawhi, but you'd assume he isn't sustainable as a Top Five candidate, much less an actual MVP. Then I have Durant in fifth. I think Durant would be a serious contender, except that I don't expect him to play enough games. Of course, the narrative of having two other stars will also be going against him.

Davis has been the Lakers' most valuable player, as he was in last season's playoffs until the final three or four games, which is all that most people remember (or choose to remember, lol). James is right behind Davis, around that seventh spot.

If I were betting, Jokic, Embiid, and Kawhi would be the only three I'd consider as of today.

EDIT: If I were that kind of dude, which I'm not, then Donovan Mitchell's current odds of 100-1 might be intriguing. I don't really gamble, but whenever I consider it, I tend to think in terms of what is actually going to happen and don't get too caught up in the lines/odds.

Could of course be that you were just referring to per game statistics, but I'll gladly take that dance as well. Indeed, Durant does average a very impressive 31.2 points per game. Jokic, on the other hand, averages 25.8 points per game. Not too shabby, but quite a gap, I must admit. However, could you please point out to me what Durant, statistically, brings more to the table than Jokic does, please? Because Jokic blows him, just like the before mentioned advanced stat, out of the park in every imaginable per game stat. Even steals, which Jokic is ranked tied #4 overall with. Unless the difference in blocks (which is 0.2, to be exact) counts so heavily with you, I don't think you have a leg to stand on.

Just to glance at those advanced stats again, here is Jokic ranked in PER, AST%, OWS, DWS, WS, WS/48, OBPM, DBPM, BPM and VORP: #1, #2, #1, #11, #1, #2, #1, #4, #1, #1. Magnificent. If we look at the TPA across the league I posted before as well, Jokic is in a league of his own. Durant is just in a league.

I mean he missed a few games cause of COVID protocol. It won't continue at this rate.

KD also clearly has better stats. What are you even talking about?

Not to mention Jokic is a sieve on defense.

Yet KD has a higher TS on more points and is better defensively.

But ok
