If it was DWade, he'd be averaging double the FTs.
It's a moot point to discuss Luke right now, 8-8 is no where near MVP level, if Mavs pick up their pace once everyone is healthy then he has a chance.
They also need to trade for normal center and a PG, they have 40+ million$ in expiring, they must act.
Defense wins draft lotteries!
Fortune favours the bold, so it ducked Nico Harrison.

Not sure they give it to Jokic if Denver is a 8th seed or lower? Stats go out the window when your team isn't top 4? AD and LBJ chances drop because both on same team. Bucks get a top three seed again he'll win his third MVP this year.

Could of course be that you were just referring to per game statistics, but I'll gladly take that dance as well. Indeed, Durant does average a very impressive 31.2 points per game. Jokic, on the other hand, averages 25.8 points per game. Not too shabby, but quite a gap, I must admit. However, could you please point out to me what Durant, statistically, brings more to the table than Jokic does, please? Because Jokic blows him, just like the before mentioned advanced stat, out of the park in every imaginable per game stat. Even steals, which Jokic is ranked tied #4 overall with. Unless the difference in blocks (which is 0.2, to be exact) counts so heavily with you, I don't think you have a leg to stand on.

Just to glance at those advanced stats again, here is Jokic ranked in PER, AST%, OWS, DWS, WS, WS/48, OBPM, DBPM, BPM and VORP: #1, #2, #1, #11, #1, #2, #1, #4, #1, #1. Magnificent. If we look at the TPA across the league I posted before as well, Jokic is in a league of his own. Durant is just in a league.

More points on a higher percentage and better defense. Why is it that so hard to understand lol

as bad as Jokic has been defensively, Durant is even worse
Muha_i_samolet wrote:I never thought that the myth about KDs defense created by GSW fans would stick... The dude is slow and probably the weakest player in the NBA who gets bullied by random guards around the rim.

it's funny... Durant posted like 3 positive defensive years in his career and he is supposed to be this great defender

not to mention that all the things that made him a positive once upon a time (rebounding as a SF, rim protection as a SF, etc) have ceased to be positives because he is now apparently a PF and such things should be the norm at this position and not added value

in fact his rebounding is very weak for a PF

2. Lebron/Jokic - lebron better record, jokic way better numbers. and I know lbj has much better support, but for that not to matter, jokic will need to finish within 2 seeds of the lakers (i.e. 1st vs. 3rd)
3. not sure who i would put 3rd, maybe kawhi/pg

What puts LeBron over AD in your opinion? Seems bias to me. How is he over KD? How tied with Jokic who carries the Nuggets night in night out?

Imo kd has no shot now with kyrie and harden on the team so i wont put him on any list

Jokic/lbj. As i said its too early. Lbj has the record. Jokic way better numbers. It will depend on seeding. As long as Jokic finishes top 4 he has a shot.

Lbj is playing better than ad... there is no bias there.

OK so KD cant because he plays with Harden (Kyrie is hardly present, cant see hwo he would be related) but LeBron is #2 despite playing next to AD? Whats the rationale behind that?

OVerall i think while we have a great situation in the league right now with so much diverse talent though all positions, many posters express a highly irrational and disrespectful view of Kevin Durant for some reason. He is not my "favorite player", and i'd rather see Jokic or Kawhi in teh race, but his unique talent in the league should be totally obvious. Lets be honest, the haters hoped he would come back as a shell of his former self from the grave injury and are just bitter that he seems to be as good as before.

Jokic and Embiid now..

Kawhi, LeBron and Mitchell after that.
Kawhi slowly redeeming himself without load management and uncle Dennis nonsense. PG balling out and posting MVP numbers could take something away from him but I see PG falling back down to earth slowly and steadily.
LeBron is up there due to team record and being the best player on the best team. AD has mostly sucked except for 2/3 games.
Mitchell is again the best player on the Jazz and hence gets consideration. Also putting up good numbers.

KD isn't even top seven because despite his production and having 1 superstar and an all-star the Nets are 5th in the East. Only top 4/5 teams in the entire league should be considered unless you're doing something historic with a bunch of bums.. Lol at him.bring considered. Team success is " THE MOST IMPORTANT" factor!

Bam could've been up there with Joke and Joel if not for our roster being decimated and us nowhere close to top 5 in the league.

I think once you blow a 3-1 lead you should be disqualified from winning MVP for the next season until you redeem yourself in the playoffs. Would be nice if that was a rule.

In what metric is LeBron making a push for MVP? He's behind AD in pretty much every way.

AD vs LeBron
PER: 26.1 vs 23.2
TS%: .601 vs .579
WS: 2.6 vs 2.1
WS/48: .254 vs .187
BPM: 7.5 vs 5.1
VORP: 1.2 vs 1

I have Jokic and Embiid as 1a and 1b so far. Kawhi, KD and AD round out my top 5 at the moment.

Westbrook won MVP in 2017 as the 6th seed. Who told you the MVP is always on a top 2 seed?

There is not much sense in looking at the ranking this early into the season, especially with Covid messing things up. We can, however, look at who is playing the best, and that's Jokic, along with Embiid and probably Kawhi.

It happened one time ever and it was an extremely unique situation. 99% of the time the MVP goes to the best player on a top 2 seed and I guarantee it's going to happen again this year because there's no story comparable to Durant leaving OKC

Just don't act shocked if Jokic gets almost no MVP votes despite putting up the best stats as a 4 seed because that's how the award has historically been voted on

Lebrons definitely had a better year than AD so far (bar last game) but ADs been chillin. Lebron hasnt played at a particular special level either but his name will be in the convo if they have the top seed easily.

Embiid is a front runner but I wonder if he’ll get a lack of recognition like joker did last season.

Impact wise Joker seems like clearly number 1 but his team kinda sucks and team record is really important in this award.

KDs got probably the best or second best numbers. Jokers been better but KDs certainly in the convo. His numbers may suffer with harden or maybe they’ll just take votes off each other. He’s gonna be In the mix but I think their record might not be great. Gonna take a while for that team to fully gel and head in the right direction.

Kawhi, kinda a dark horse. Laughing stock after the 3-1 loss but he’s playing at an mvp level and their team is highly motivated. They’re gonna have the record and he’s got the numbers / impact. Probably one of the more likely guys to win.

PG, slightly below kawhi.

Giannis, dunno how voters will take him. Don’t think they’ll wanna vote for him again.

Harden, would have won this award easily this year if he stayed in Houston and tried. Now, no chance.

Tatum, maybe ends up top 5. Doubt he’ll be at the very top
