Haven't looked at the two later guys but I like Scottie Lewis in that range and would move up for him if we think he might go higher. Would consider Greg Brown and Alperen Sengun with one of the higher picks as well.

Everything is fluid right now though.

Spoiler:
Also, checks out Sandro for BAF purposes...

Ziaire & BJ would be upside picks with great length and scoring potential. I like Cam’s shot making/taking ability and he is an excellent FT shooter who doesn’t have a shy bone in his body. Sandro is being slept on heavily.

I'd gladly take Boston as an upside pick. Thing is I'm not sure the new Knicks scouts and regime wants to draft 18/19 y/o development upside picks anymore based on their selections of non-freshmen toppin and quickley in the last draft. If they continue that trend they'll pass on those types of guys for more established players. Gotta think they'll instead look at players like Kispert, Butler, Bouknight

You can't have a trend with a single data point...

Well it's a new regime and they've only have had one draft, and that's the direction they chose to go last time. Can't say for sure they'll continue in that same direction but it's worth keeping an eye on. It's actually 2 data points btw, they had 2 picks

It's still just one draft that was very atypical in a lot of ways, prior to an evaluation season.

And it's not like they drafted for instant impact with the one lottery pick that they have made. Obi's older, but he was a late bloomer due to that late growth spurt and still needs time to develop. So even the data point we do have doesn't really support what you are suggesting about their draft day MO.

All I can say is that we didn't draft any freshmen. Whether that was just a coincidence, or a hint at future draft direction, I don't know

I wouldn't focus too much on Boston's totals if he can finish the season well. That Kentucky team was an absolute mess without a veteran guard to give them some structure after the lack offseason prep, and they're still not exactly clicking.

I'm not on the Boston bandwagon yet...as even in these last few games his efficiency has been booty...but if he keeps improving and finishes the season on a strong note, I wouldn't hold the awful start too much against him. The kid's just not ready to be the lead-ballhandler & initiate the offense for his team, but that's what Cal needs him to be doing because both Quickley & Maxey left.

What do people think about Jaden Springer? I haven't gotten a chance to watch Tennessee this year and I wanted to hear what y'all thought? We're probably still looking for a PG and he might be our best option for when we end up back in the lottery.

I’ve tried to watch him but he doesn’t get big minutes and still just seems like an unknown to me. Nothing that’s wowed me

I'm surprised he's so high on the tankathon mock. It's weird that Tenn can have two NBA prospects but neither of them get starters minutes. It seems a little suspect to me.

I’d be pretty skeptical of it. I mean they had those guys in those high draft positions and it’s like they’ve stayed there by default instead of anything they’ve actually done. Maybe they’ll be great, who knows.

ESPN has Keon at 8 and Springer at 22. Patrick Williams didn't start a game and went 4th

So did westbrook, so I'm not saying it's a bad thing but it's a little unusual. Especially, since it's two guys instead of one. Isn't Keon like a freak athlete though? The little I've seen of Springer he doesn't look like that type of athlete.

yeah Keon is very athletic and Jaden is just an ok athlete, not sure if he can be a full-time PG. looks more like a combo to me.

Jared Butler is my preferred PG after Cade and Suggs

Physically very impressive. Good athlete, but not crazy springy, he is however very strong. His handle is better than his team-mate, Keon Johnson's, but in the games that I've watched I have been very unimpressed with Springer's playmaking/passing. I know draft site are listing Springer as a PG/SG & Keon as just a SG, but I don't really see that. KJ is rawer but I think he has a lot more PG potential in the longrun.

I like Keon, but he's going to take time so he's lower on my list than a lot of the other guys I like in that late lotto-range.

Now I'm not trying to say he's going to become MVP-Russ, but Keon actually reminds me of UCLA-Russ quite a bit. Raw handle & shot, but still able to get where ever he wants because he's such a freak athlete, with good playmaking instincts & excellent defense.

Bet MPJ is gonna be trying all season to get the Nuggets to draft David Duke

Just seems like they'd really get along.
BaF Lakers:

Nikola Topic/Kasparas Jakucionis
VJ Edgecombe/Jrue Holiday
Shaedon Sharpe/Cedric Coward
Kyle Filipowski/Collin Murray-Boyles
Alex Sarr/Clint Capela

Bench: Malcolm Brogdon/Hansen Yang/Rocco Zikarsky/RJ Luis Jr.

Return to New York Knicks
