Re: Trade Discussion 20/21
Actually, luka been trying to feed the other plahers but the whole team been in some collective shooting slump. U dont get 16ass with 19 more potentials without feeding the team.
We have had a very bad schedule this far, and coroba on that. But if we can beat suns atleast 1 of the games, preferably both, its a little bit easier depending on what version of gsw that shows up next week.

That's true. As I said, he's similar to Russell Westbrook who averaged triple doubles for 2 years.
RIght now it's Porzingis who has to raise him game so they can take over ball games.

Can you imagine if we have 3 Seth Currys on the team plus Luka, KP and maybe one Center/PF who rebounds and protect the paint?

Opposing teams with good offensive wings would be licking their chops.
That Curry/JRich trade needed to happen.
We'll get out of this funk eventually.

The 76ers?
Seth Curry
Shake Milton (Drafted by the Mavericks traded to the 76ers)
Tyrese Maxey (Passed up by the Mavericks for Josh Green)

That trade didn't need to happen at all. Mavericks got fleeced. There's a reason why 76ers gave up a 2nd round pick instead of the other way around.
All the Mavericks had to do was draft Saddiq Bey, and trade Delon Wright, and Justin Jackson for Johnson. And run it back.

Why though? Curry is shooting lights out and was incredibly valuable off the bench. He was able to get his own shot off and spaced the floor for Luka. I asked this same question when trade happened and i was worried it will backfire on the Mavs.
Jrich is actually one of the worst defensive and offensive players on this team. He has 51% TS and is worse at steals+blocks than Luka. And he was suppose to be someone who could ease the pressure off of him on defense. Jrich literally brings NOTHING to this team at the moment. The only worse players than him are rookies and Boban

JRich really has played poorly this year. I think his on the ball defense has been ok, but his productivity stats are almost all at career lows. Most likely he is going to revert back to his normal play, which will be a nice improvement. But if not, the Mavs need to make a change. Clearly Curry is the better player this year and the Mavs downgraded so far.
However, Curry was a 12 ppg player for the Mavs. A useful role player, but not the key to their success last year, nor poor play this year. While the Mavs would be incrementally better if they had Curry still on the team, I think the team's problems go far beyond that trade.

That’s what exactly what I’m saying. A team with 3 Seth Curry’s would get destroyed on the defensive end.

This isn't a trade, but Dallas needs to throw money at Gary Trent Jr. in the offseason.

It looks to me Mavs are getting destroyed on the defensive and offensive end with current roster too. Talking about D looks sexy, but it's kinda irrelevant, when you're the worst shooting team in the league. Seth/Richardson could have worked, if Mavs have brought few more decent players. They didn't. Player like Richardson alone cannot change much in D. So D is still bad and offense much worse than last year.

Re: Trade Discussion 20/21
We were 3rd in d before corona so wouldnt overreact abiut how it looked with half the team away.
2nd and 3rd yesterday looked good. A game or 2 more and they should be in game shape again and on top of that maxi is on his way back.
Just chill

You don't think it was mostly small sample data and some very wild games in the beginning of the season, when many teams looked bad? I don't know, but if you cannot defend anyone in the paint, your D probably is not the best. If you looked at Mavs roster, you mostly see average or below average defenders. KP theoretically could be good, but he isn't at the moment, then you have Kleber and maybe DFS and it's more or less over with good defenders. Richardson for sure hasn't shown much yet. That roster to be top 3 in D. is just statistical anomaly.

Re: Trade Discussion 20/21
Well, we have that dmall sample size, a small sample size with half team gone, and a smalm sample size with a few of the corona guys just getting back after 3 weeks in a hotel room.
Why would sample size 2 or 3 be more accurate? Cant see a single reason

Because of the roster.

The defense will get better as the Covid guys get their legs under them and once Maxi is back. Remember this team still hasn’t had their full compliment of players all available at the same time. They still have to get used to playing together. As they do the defense and the offense will start to click.

You could say the same thing about the offense being bad, it’s a small sample size. Let’s give them to at least the trade deadline before wanting to dump the whole team.

You honestly believe that this roster could be great in D? I don't even care about advanced stats, when it comes to D. 1/3 of the team cannot guard a chair. And there isn't a single one, who looks as great defender. Some solid defensive players for sure, but to be top 3 D in Nba, you need totally different personal. My hope is that they start to shoot better.

Yeah, way too much overreaction going on here.
Yes we are in a horrible funk but I don't think we are as bad as it may seem at the moment.
KP and JRich have played in what, 2 or 3 games together?
It will get better but I do think the Mavs will make a move or two before the TDL to address some issues.
JRich is still a decent trade asset if the Mavs think they need to move him.

It would have been overreaction, if Mavs were the only team with problems, but Mavs' opponents had problems too. Suns yesterday didn't have Booker and Saric, Utah Mitchell, Houston without Harden, Wood, Oladipo...Murray was ejected in Denver game. People said Utah is just too good, they don't look that good tonight. And it would have been much less worrisome, if Luka was playing bad. The problem is that Mavs are losing pretty easily, while Luka plays good. What will happen, when Luka eventually has some bad games? And what about THJ, he had some bad games, but overall he's playing better than expected. I doubt very much he continues like that. I don't believe Mavs have hit rock bottom yet.
They need big trade badly, the problem is, they don't have assets for any kind of significant trade.
