I agree, and I doubt LaMelo (or his father) would be happy with him being sixth man. Wiseman might also become Kevin Durant rather than Patrick Ewing.
I concur with what was posted about his usage numbers at this particular point in time though. I would however go with whatever Kerr, Curry and Green consider to be the best way to progress, and wait to see at least for rather more games than 20, as well as for some indication as to what sort of condition Klay looks likely to be in for next season, which surely must still be uncertain.

Klay is done guys. Nobody comes back stronger after two injuries like he had.
We gotta accept the reality and move on. He'll always be a great shooter, but if you expect him to be anything better than Kyle Korver after the injury, you're fooling yourselves. You don't win a championship with Korver as your second best player.

Re: WISEMAN EXPECTATIONS: Year 1
I got news for you weaklings out there.......Lamelo is gonna win Rookie of the Year. That’s great for Charlotte, and Lamelo is a good player.
That doesn’t take one thing away from Wiseman and our teams trajectory for me. Wiseman was a great pick and by next year this kind of hand wringing will hopefully be a thing of the past.

I’d be happy to bet with you on Klay. We can bookmark this and place a bet with anything you’d like.
Let me know

I can't get over the idea that LaMelo could be Klay on defense. Lol.

Melo and amare should thrive in this offense. If Jeremy Tyler and cole Aldridge looked that good in summer league then us knick fans have a lot to be excited about. Make room for all the bandwagoners when we take off

Re: WISEMAN EXPECTATIONS: Year 1
I'm reading these posts and am definitely picking up on some mass denial on this board over the last week or so - Ever since Charlotte removed the training wheels on LaMelo. Previously, there appears to have been denial over the #3 pick's ceiling. Now though, it's pretty evident what LaMelo is - And what we missed out on. Over his last five games, he's averaging 23 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds. If ever there was a doubt, there is no more. LaMelo is legit, very possibly a near future All Star and one of the new faces of the league. Does that mean the Warriors are trash for not selecting him with the #2 pick and Wiseman is a bust? Obviously not. But damn if it doesn't put some added pressure on Wiseman. Hopefully the young man continues to develop so we don't start hearing comparisons to Sam Bowie.

Pretty sure Tyreke Evans averaged 20/5/5 in his rookie season (and beat out Steph, Harden, Jrue Holiday and DeRozan for RotY).

The most apt comparison right now might be to Luka.

Re: WISEMAN EXPECTATIONS: Year 1
I still don't know what Wiseman is good at or what his 'elite' NBA skill will be. I know it's still extremely early. My new expectations are for Wiseman to just gain experience and figure out what he's good at.

Re: WISEMAN EXPECTATIONS: Year 1
JDub looks extremely versatile to me. Clearly he needs to dunk lobs and block shots, both of which he can do. I've seen some good footwork on the block from him, a nice hook shot, a smooth mid range stroke, turnaround J, as well as the 3 ball. And don't forget Wiseman can take it coast to coast too. lol.
What's going to keep him on the floor is to play good d, rebound, faster rotations and block shots. He has a LOT more to offer than that obviously, but needs to keep in mind that he's playing the 5 spot for the Warriors. what do they need from him.

If I had to choose one elite skill for him, right now, it's the one sideways step from the free throw line for the dunk!
That's a pretty awesome skill.

After five decent games he's compared to Luka? Whew.

Re: WISEMAN EXPECTATIONS: Year 1
Not to derail the thread any more, but Luka is one of the craftiest finishers in the league. If you watch LaMelo play, he frequently finishes drives with ugly floaters and push shots that clank off the rim or even air ball. He's got a long, long way to go before he can get into the Luka conversation.Old_Blue wrote:tarantism wrote:So in this scenario LaMelo is Michael Jordan?Old_Blue wrote:I'm reading these posts and am definitely picking up on some mass denial on this board over the last week or so - Ever since Charlotte removed the training wheels on LaMelo. I agree that they are similarly poor shooters.

Re: WISEMAN EXPECTATIONS: Year 1
Comparing LaMelo to Luka is just another version of anyone-but-Wiseman.
LaMelo may have a great career. I won't mind if he does. But, come on, Doncic? Luka can stroke a three from Curry/Lillard distance, consistently, and create his own shots off drives. He was EuroLeague MVP at 18, and was killing it against the best non-US competition as a 16 year old. We don't even know if Ball will develop a decent offensive game.

Ridiculous comparison.
At best, he's a Jason Kidd type.
