That's correct, I have no intention of retaining Lauri in my fantasy scenario. It's basically a trade of Lauri for Collins for next season. Like Collins a lot more.
If you do that, 1 Collins wants the max and 2 he is a similar player to Lauri in that he is not a great defender at the 4 spot. He is a far better rebounder though.
Apples and oranges. Collins plays a lot more near the basket than Lauri, of course he'll get his hands on a few more rebounds. IMO Collins is pretty clearly a 5 in this league, a paint finisher who takes the occasional 3pt shot (only averaging 3.5 3PA's per game).
Career rbs per 36
-----------------
Collins 10.9
Lauri 8.8
Anyway, nobody's paying a player like Collins OR Lauri for rebounding these days. And most rebounding stats have become meaningless.
It's incredible how many Bulls fans don't seem to have a lot of problems with giving a guy like Collins the MAX, while also saying that Markkanen isn't worth even a lowball like $16 million per.Once again the grass is bright green on the other side. For instance, Collins has zero ability to "create his own shot", which has always been a knock against Lauri in these parts.
I think "per season" stats are better to compare Lauri with anybody. Per 36 ascribes false durability to Lauri.
