That's correct, I have no intention of retaining Lauri in my fantasy scenario. It's basically a trade of Lauri for Collins for next season. Like Collins a lot more.

If you do that, 1 Collins wants the max and 2 he is a similar player to Lauri in that he is not a great defender at the 4 spot. He is a far better rebounder though.

Apples and oranges. Collins plays a lot more near the basket than Lauri, of course he'll get his hands on a few more rebounds. IMO Collins is pretty clearly a 5 in this league, a paint finisher who takes the occasional 3pt shot (only averaging 3.5 3PA's per game).

Career rbs per 36
-----------------
Collins 10.9
Lauri 8.8

Anyway, nobody's paying a player like Collins OR Lauri for rebounding these days. And most rebounding stats have become meaningless.

It's incredible how many Bulls fans don't seem to have a lot of problems with giving a guy like Collins the MAX, while also saying that Markkanen isn't worth even a lowball like $16 million per. Once again the grass is bright green on the other side. For instance, Collins has zero ability to "create his own shot", which has always been a knock against Lauri in these parts.

I think "per season" stats are better to compare Lauri with anybody. Per 36 ascribes false durability to Lauri.

Steph being Steph again is so much fun, it really makes me happy. What an incredible talent.

Whenever I drop by the General Board, I see that Christmas Day thread about how this season has "exposed" Steph as being a false superstar. Mama, don't let your babies post hot takes. Particularly not when starting threads that persist for the next two months.

The Pistons only beat good teams, they’re the anti-Bulls. Such a weird team.

They have 7 wins and got them against Boston (2x), LAL, Philly, Brooklyn, Phoenix and Miami. Their schedule has been insanely tough so far, so maybe their season isn't completely lost yet? I have no idea what their direction is after their super crazy, mostly horrible offseason which somehow seems less horrible now with Grant's emergence. They have some interesting pieces there, but they also still have Blake, who basically can't move at all anymore, playing big minutes.

I think the Knicks are a legit playoff team in the East. Like better than a play-in tourney team.

They dont have the most on offense, but their defense is legit. That's what keeping them in every game they play. Getting Rose just gives them more reliable offense.

And Jerami Grant is such an awesome success story. From 39th pick to where he is now. Horace must be proud.

And how about Dougie going for 26 in the Pacers win? Nice to see old Bulls doing well.

He's Harvey's son right? But nonetheless, the Grant family with Jerami at the 3, Harvey at 4, Horace at 5... would probably be the best NBA family frontcourt.

For sure. Denver would've paid him as well, but he bet on himself and wanted a bigger role in Detroit. Love that it works out for him, especially because most people (including me) didn't believe he could ever be this good.

Something’s wrong with the Hawks, I think they have some serious chemistry issues. Trae can’t just take 9 shots, less than any other starter and not take any 3s. Not his first performance which looks kind of suspicious.

Great to see the league take some action against Lebron for flopping. You'd think the refs would wise up to his act after all these years, but he keeps getting those calls.

Westbrook - something isn't right with him. He needs a break or something.

He needs to be about 5 years younger or change his game.

Russ is a career .305 3pt shooter who's losing the ability to get to the rim anytime he wants. This will get ugly.

given that harvey sucked, i'd go with the sabonises...using euro-prime arvydas, anyway. and, of course, then there are the gasol brothers. a notch below would be the demarcus cousins

the weird thing about the knicks is that beyond their center combo they really don't have much in the way of good individual defenders. they're 2nd to last in the league in forcing turnovers and only average in terms of shot blocking. they don't do a great job of preventing opponents from getting to the line either. so why are they #3 in the league in defense? opponents shoot a crapload of 3s and only shoot 31.4%! i don't know how much of that is scheme and how much is dumb luck, but i can't see how it's sustainable

Wow, the Wiz blew out Boston. Somehow held Tatum to 6 points on 3-14 shooting. Must be nice. We haven't been able to beat the Celtics in years.
