Pump the brakes brother....he's been good but not a game changer...hornets have had alot of overral improvement, from Rozier finally playing well again to gordon heyward becoming all star caliber again , to cody Zeller and miles bridges both lifting up thier own game
Lol. Hes absolutely been a game changer.
He has.
Every time I watch LaMelo I'm reminded of Doncic in a lot of ways. Both big guards who can get on the boards, aren't explosive athletes but have a lot of craftiness, IQ and control an offense.
I think he can get to that level. They may as well call the ROY race now.

At what point does Atlanta regret signing off on that trade?

Saddiq Bey has been really impressive, odd that he dropped as low as he did

He's played a total of 106 minutes with Karl-Anthony Towns.
He absolutely needs to start and not be grouped up in a bench spot where he's gonna take 9 shots in 7 minutes.
He's looked a lot better with the spacing. Being that 3/4th option. And he is starting to become a monster isolation scorer. He is also a very good passer. Not flashy but he makes the good pass which frees up team mates
Also super happy with McDaniels. Defensive monster 1v1 (lucky Pascal Ballsed up that layup tonight) but stoked who we got in this year's draft.

Re: Rookie of The Year Thread
He got such a negative rep this draft process that to my eyes and ears so far has been unwarranted. I love this kid, both on and off the court!

Edwards is going to be such a beast. He is the biggest looking 6'5 guard I have ever seen

Re: Rookie of The Year Thread
Edwards has a nice looking shooting stroke. He's missing a lot of three's right now but I think it'll come around as he gets more comfortable. I think that's when he'll start to impress. If defenders have to guard him tight from 3, his ability to drive will get them. He could have something special. Not there yet but time will tell.

Re: Rookie of The Year Thread
Regardless of whatever his stats are Edwards is just way too gifted athletically to not develop into a quality starter at least. Not just in terms of speed and explosiveness, but fluidity and touch...the talent is definitely there.
Bey might be in the convo if he got time earlier in the year, he looks very NBA ready.

Antman last 5 games: 18/5/3/1 on 45% from the field...he's looked way different as a starter vs. coming off the bench

Re: Rookie of The Year Thread
Was hugely Suprised that Bey got player of the week
But hell. He's carrying that Piston team to some suprising wins and has stood up once the Pistons have yet again, re-jigged what they are doing on-court

This draft outside of Lamelo might not have potential superstars, but it’s definitely better than advertised.
It’s early but it looks way more solid than the 2019 draft.

If Haliburton hadn't fallen to the Kings, I was dead set on Bey. Just seems like the ideal candidate to have a super long career filling the biggest position of need in the NBA.

Re: Rookie of The Year Thread
Okoro is just way too small and offensively raw. Usually when you draft someone who's a project on offense you're talking about a 6'9 long elite athlete who just can't shoot, dribble, or think the game very well yet. Okoro is a smart player and he has good instincts and pretty good athleticism. But he's just so limited and far away from where he needs to be in the skills department, and I can't see him ever being a full time 3 due to his lack of size. He's not elite athletically the way I think most thought he was prior to the draft either. Which means long term he'll probably have to be a SG and I don't know if he'll ever be able to shoot and break down a defense the way most good SGs can.
It really sucks to be 3 years into this rebuild now but the only guy I'm thinking might be a future cornerstone for this team is the one we didn't even draft - Jarrett Allen. Even Sexton I'm starting to think I jumped the gun on. If he doesn't improve his playmaking and defense and stop being so predictable with straight line drives he's probably better suited to a sixth man role. Garland is a shooter who has no confidence in his shot and he's too small to finish well inside or defend even though he does give effort in that area.
This team is a disaster.
