Yep shot terribly and are still dominating. Guess Rudy got exposed last game huh?

When Giannis is crap and scores 27 with 4 and 1 yes Rudy is exposed.

Do you even have like a basic idea of how basketball works? Giannis got his points because the Jazz had a massive lead and were not contesting the 3 point line (ie the quickest way for the Bucks to get back in the game). Who cares if Giannis got points...the Bucks never got to single digits in the entire 2nd half. Gobert himself got 27 points...guess he exposed Giannis.

Did you even watch the game? Rudy wasn't defending Giannis, it was Royce O'Neale. Giannis did all his scoring in the second half, and a lot in 4th when the game was over. His stats look good on a boxscore, but he really didn't have a big impact on the game.

Rudy is a rim protector ,Giannis attack the rim so...
Since when a game is over when you are 14 pts back?
Imagine Giannis was crap and scored 29

Giannis scored MOST of his points in the last 5 minutes when Utah stopped giving a crap due to the incredible lead they had, lmao.

Garbage time Giannis should not be used as an argument against Rudy's DPOY campaign.

Giannis had 9points the first 3 quarters, and 18 in the 4th. Despite Giannis best efforts in the 4th, it didn't help trim the lead.

To be fair, the Lakers have had by far the best defensive team in basketball. While I think people really need to start putting more respect on LeBron's name again when it comes to All-D selections, I don't think he's DPOY level. AD has missed too much time.

I don't see how it's not Gobert so far. Jazz are the best team in the league in no small part because of their defensive dominance (#2 defense in the league).

Per BBR, Lakers have a 105.2 Drating and the Jazz have a 107.5 Drating.

Even then, "by far" is quite the stretch

Uh...that’s a pretty big gap. It’s a bigger difference than the one between Utah and the rest of the top 5.

I think some people filter out garbage time, and the Jazz third stringers have seen the floor a fair bit.

And they are very very bad.

Rudy is DPOY.
Clarkson is 6MOY
Quin Snyder should be a finalist for COY.

Simmons just took a dump on all defensive candidate Rudy and scored 42 points on him. Rudy was guarding Simmons all game.

Would be nice if they have different categories, like The Oscars.

Best rim protector: Gobert
Best perimeter defender: (not informed enough to pick one)
Best overall defensive player: Draymond
Defensive ROY: Wiseman?
Most improved: no idea

It's a break from tradition, but most of us would love it, right?

Simmons is the leading DPOY candidate by so far that it’s beyond a joke

He brutally exposed Gobert today on a 1 on 1 matchup

76ers pushing Simmons (Deservedly) Jazz pushing Gobert (Favourite/Deservedly) and Bucks trying to get Giannis's name in there somehow (Hell no). Basically a summary of how the DPOY thread is going.

WTF are you actually talking about here? Do you guys actually watch those games or just boxscore watch and push whatever fake hype narrative is convenient? Simmons was amazing this game and abused our defense (mainly in transition), but lets not get it twisted about what exactly he did against Gobert. Gobert DID NOT guard him all game and in their one on one matchup Simmons was 3/7 from the field vs Gobert and scored a total of 12 points when guarded by Gobert(if you give him the 2 putbacks when Gobert was guarding him, but went to give help defense and forced the misses which were cleaned up by Simmons) out of 42 total.

This is freaking ridiculous. I get hyping your own guy and enjoying his success but this is complete and utter garbage that is completely divorced from reality and the saddest thing is it's done with a single purpose - to degrade and put down another great player. You don't need to do that in order to enjoy Simmons' success, you can appreciate him on his own merits. For those who haven't seen the game here's the highlights of Simmons vs the Jazz(worth watching more than just to confirm he was guarded by Royce and Favors and Bojan for majority of the game, because he really did have a special game):

If only there weren’t some way to prove you were full of it. Let’s see....

https://www.nba.com/stats/players/defense-dash-overall/?Season=2020-21&SeasonType=Regular%20Season&OpponentTeamID=1610612755&TeamID=1610612762

Looks like only 9 shots were scored against Rudy all game. How could that be if he were guarding Ben all game and Ben made more than 9 shots?

Rudy defended 22 shots and kept his opponents to 41% shooting. Ben (also apparently an All defensive candidate) only faced 11 shots and allowed 45% in.

But you know, if you want your flights of fancy, you might want to consider the fact that Clarkson’s higher efficiency outburst was against a defence anchored by Simmons before cranking out the hyperbole.

Yea Simmons brutalized us down low. Had a career high game. And still took a double digit L. Wonder how it wouldve gone with a standard Ben game. Simmons was so dominant on defense we shot avg on our wide open 3s compared to the norm but Ill take that win.

When it comes to Gobert, none of them do. Their takes aren't just your garden variety stupid, they are a sort of stupid that's hard to comprehend from anyone with a functioning brain. Like their keyboards and/or phones must be half plastic/half drool.
